You should consider Song of Blades and Heroes from Ganesha Games. Great replayability, easy to learn, low model count, range agnostic (use whatever miniatures you like), can fit whatever theme you want, inexpensive to start, you can scale up and down the complexity of the rules, interesting decisions, campaigns, etc. etc.

How about Age of Fantasy or Grimdark future from One Page Rules? Each has both an army scale game and a skirmish ruleset. The rules are free, and while they are meant to be used with GW minis, anything appropriate will work.

Other than that Draculas America is really fun if you enjoy the Wild West with added supernatural stuff.
