Can't find any stats on the lightning fighter. But the vamp is only a wee small un.

So painted up the pilots today.
Here they are at stations. In their bobsleds and ready to thunder out! Both jets are assembled. Will post ph

Oh that's better.

My plane sizes in comparison to a models and minis aircraft. (I think it's a cover all thundbolt/avenger/lightning proxy. I have no actual idea of their dimensions.

Yeah the canberra is a monsterous beast of the skies.

I'm really impressed by your work OP, very inspiring! The pilots look great in the cockpit, much better than I thought that they might

Thanks, they took a bit of chopping and milliput, But I find 1/48th stuff usually fits guardsmen, (especially when you're not dealing with old chunky cadians) pretty well.
Also I could not resist doing a bit of helmet art!

Was considering if I should paint them assembled or not, If I assemble them I'll obviously need to mask the entire cockpit glass, but I was looking at photos of camouflaged vampires, and I found that not olnly is the underside colour usually a nice sharp line but it often comes up to the middle of the nose cone, the middle of the airframe. I found that I can spray this thing not assembled, spray the underside it's colour/colours. Spray the top in a desert pattern and all i need to do is mask the rear of the cockpit, and the bottom of the tail, then touch up the air intakes for the jet(which has not got rivets or panneling on it). Then I can glue the whole craft together, do some touch ups and slap the decals on and it'll look mint. I'll just need to slap some floor polish on the inside of the cockpit to stop any frosting when I glue that in.
Just got to make up some 'stores' and magnetise them.
Fluffwise my thing is kitted out with 4x multilasers and 2x30mm auto cannons in the nose already(which are marked by holes I've drilled out) it's more of a rapid fire armament, because this is a dogfighting little interceptor primarily, so I'll make one style of the drop tanks into las cannons for ground attack/serious interception duty. And after that its some bombs(2x big ones or racks of small ones), and Air to air, and air to ground missiles. Oh and drop tanks.

Vampires are looking great. I just ordered 2 of the Hornets from Models and Minis I've wanted them since the failed KS a couple of years back. Glad that M&M picked them up and brought them to life.

Thanks Kid , that models and minis plane is really good, you get a lot of choice for stores, including drop tanks for the wing tips, the big ole auto cannon, 6x big missiles and some napalm bombs. Which I will be magnetising to my kit bashed jets!

Mine has 6 of the fat HK missiles, figuring it's mainly going to be a tank buster/strike craft so fat missiles = fat payloads.

But slap some auto cannons in the nose and you have a heavy fighter.

Okay so some simple gun pods using one of the styles if the vamp's drop tanks, just a leman russ hull las cannon.

A stolly load of stores I will magnetise to fit onto my all of these jets and work beginning on the next biggest one. Meteor pilot is being put together, and the cockpit and ejection seat are partly assembled and painted as of just after these photos.

I put the decal on the meteor instrument panel, and have lost the bloody thing. I can't for the life of me find it anywhere, so I have ordered a 3rd party replacement. Thankfully the plane is apparently very popular and are well supported.

Okay, so I have assembled some more crewmen.
Canberra crew mid fitting

And in positions!

This time I'll be in trouble if I lose the instrument panel. LOL.

Okay the warbirds with their decals on. The second one has got a bit of matt varnish over the canopy that makes it look a bit foggy, I'll scrub it off with a stiff brush and put some clear varnish on it (floor varnish)
