The Regiment of Renown version is so much better. It MIRVs.

Holy feth.

The turn time reduction is absolutely silly. I think they underpromised and overdelivered.

Granted, no mods and its early game, but I had forgotten about the turn reduction, so focused on listening the narrator during the start of Eshin’s campaign. Hit the end turn button, some blurs at the top of my screen and boom. My turn again.

I only really care about what's going on in my general proximity anyway or with overseas trade partners. The rest of what happens I don't really care about or need to know during the turn wheel of the a.i. Basically if it's not in my line of sight and is obscured by fog of war I don't care until it's my turn.

Yeah, mortal empires is a lot more playable now.

Though i do find it a little ironic that the new factions probably benefit the least from the turn times. Simply by their nature/mechanics, its easy to get vision on the other side of the map, so you've got to manually click for faster turn times, or you'll get parades as various armies march through areas you're aware of. Its trivial (and you can turn it off in camera settings), but it amuses me anyway.

----

The Eshin 'destroy faction' button is interesting. It was mentioned in passing here, but elsewhere people apparently made some noise about it. But its (unsurprisingly) far less significant than some made it out to be. You've got to get Snikch all the way to 40 before you can use it at all, it takes him out for 5 turns (after he gets back from getting the fifth scheme in first place), and you have to have alll your schemes available (not hard with stash rations, but you're throwing yet more food out). And after you've wrecked whomever (probably Karaz a Karak), you've got 100 more turns before doing it again). Getting it in the first place will probably take 100 turns in the first place, even if you're overusing him on the minor schemes, rather than keeping your stable of assassins leveled up.

Skryre and its nukes affect gameplay so much more, both in battle and on the map, as you can spam them easily.

Fun building in Nagashizzar:

The Forbidden Halls, where the husk of the great sorcerer himself sits.
Benefits:
500 gold per turn
+10 leadership against all the various undead (all armies)
double experience gain when fighting all the various undead (all armies)
Vampiric corruption +50 in the local region
and
Immunity to Vampiric corruption (all armies)

The last is really neat... if there are still any vampires left by the time you get there and build it up to a level 5 city from its ruined state. For armies that start down in that general area, it likely won't matter much.

Update: Just pushed the 'Plunge into Anarchy' button on turn 121.

Every single Karaz a Karak settlement (and there were 24 of them) turned into a Greenskin Rebels settlement. Not sure what implications that has. I sincerely hope Black Crag can't confederate them, since I'm currently in the middle of that war and have them down to 8 settlements, mostly Wurzag's territory.

As rebels, each city has an army, but no garrisons. I need to attack one with walls to see if its a siege battle.

Having a lot of fun with Repanse in the Vortex. Being encouraged to play an aggressive Bretonnia from turn 1 is a liberating feeling, and it's impressive just how quickly you can snowball compared to the continental drift speed of the Old World Brets.

It helps that you can recruit Knights Errant en masse from Turn 1. Vows can and will catch you out, too. You really have to take full advantage of Bretonnia not using Supply Lines by getting a handful of Lords out and all Vowed up to at least Knightly Vow before it becomes annoying to do so. You'll be glad you did when you recruit a handful of Knights Errant and don't suddenly find yourself deep in the red.

(Fortunately I caught it by Confederating and swapping a single previously AI Errant unit to a different Lord without any Vows, so just disbanded it with no real issue, but it could've been an expensive mistake otherwise.)

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

Going to give the game a rest until the bulk of my favorite mods get updated, then give it a deep dive with Eshin.

I honestly feel like there's so much choice with snitch. Which clans do I betray for added rep goods and gold and a penalty for each mission passed. I feel like most of the penalties have a work around like stealing skaven tech to boost your own if you made skryre warlocks mad being pretty easy to handle atm. The only real issue is if the issuing clan gets wiped out on the map. How does that effect council orders.

The only thing I'm really unhappy about is how to run a successful army against a typical faction if prices for everything are through the roof. Some armies like wood elves need special care when being destroyed and all the non eshin unit cost increases are gonna make that an issue.

I suppose I went in thinking this like doom rocket spam and left with various schemes and trying to solve each current way to handle different factions and races and what skaven units need a boost so they can be fought effectively in a given region.
