He has 7" base movement. Can get trait for additional 2".

So maxes out at 9" can auto-advance 6" for 1 Cp and potentially fire and fade for another 7 and not charge.

however he cannot advance and charge as hes not a saim han biker..

Yep, his movement is a serious hindrance.

The issue I think some people have is that the Avatar excels at killing a few things, namely Toughness 7 models with no invulnerables. On the rare occasion that the Avatar ends up in "that" sweet spot they can really appear to be deadly. I had an instance where an Avatar and a squad of Fire Dragons encountered three Carnifexes at close range....well that's just melta rules all day against a big creature with no invulnerable save. So the Avatar cleaved two of the Carnifexes in half, etc. Same if they run into dreadnoughts or the average Chaos daemon engine, etc. They can appear like superheroes for those few encounters.

But against massed troops of any kind? Not enough durability and can't slice through hordes. Against a decent opponent with an invuln? Too risky. If the Avatar doesn't kill something outright it's not going to survive the return attacks. Is his weapon and damage really satisfying? Absolutely. But it's not 220 points satisfying, particularly when he can spend all game running around trying to find a target while being shot to death.

Given the lack of customisation options, buff auras or killiness, our characters are in a pitiful state efficiency wise :(

On how much points are you playing ?
Avatar is slow and relatively easy to kill even in melee because only 5++ and FPN 5.
Maybe you are doing something wrong or your friend is god of making saves.

I think they include a round base these days.

Mine’s on the square base he came with.
