That's encouraging. The model that I was specifically referencing/asking about was revealed to technically be supersized HI but there are plenty others that this would still help with.

Is there a significant difference in hacking efficacy targetting HI vs TAGs? I know you can eject manned TAGs (or at least could in n3) so there is that difference but I'm not sure of the rest of the potential differences or whether one has extra protection (like typically better BTS) compared with the other.

TAGS generally have pretty significant BTS. You sadly can't eject the pilot anymore, but you can still take control of them.

Most of then also have included ECM for specific programs on top of their BTS. HI do not.

It varies a bit from model to model. Some HI like Asawiras have huge BTS (9), others have garbage (Ariadnan ones have 0 a lot), but lots of others have between 3 and 6. Some TAGS like Szalamandra have great BTS (9), others like the Gecko only have 6.

So, while typically TAGs have a higher BTS (and some have a -3 mod for hacking, but not many. Almost all/all of them have -6 for rockets hitting them when they're fired in the guided setting though, which is nice. But they have to match this typically better BTS up against the fact they are also just 1 save away from having a larger chunk of your army cut off/under the enemy control.

Interesting. I didn't realize there was such a difference between targeting a HI vs targeting a TAG with hacking. Good to know!

There are also the different programs that can target them.

Both can be targeted by Oblivion (isolation), Carbonite (Immobilised-B), Spotlight (Targeted).

TAGs can be targeted by Total Control (Possession).

HI (who are hackers) can be targeted by Trinity (damage causing hack).

Both can be buffed by fairy dust from an EVO hacker (the support bot kind of hacker), but the tricky thing is you can only target one or the other each turn. So if you have an army that has both a TAG and also is HI heavy, you're left with a tricky choice, especially if the opponent has a robust repeater network.

Out of interest, for someone that missed a lot of N3, are the Daedalus Falls and Third Offensive books still valid for the new version, or are these likely to be re-released?

Since no one answered those books are like 80% fluff. No units were printed in the books and most only had 2-3 pages of rules or equipment.

Oh sorry, I missed that. And all the rules and equipment that I'm aware of have since been updated for N4, so there's no need to try and find them for the rules. Purely for the background and art.

Thanks. Is that viable in the typical points game while still reaching the seemingly mandatory order max in n4? I think Code One is different in that regard with some sort of lower max which seemed like what was standard in n3 (10?).

TAG + HI? You can do it, certainly, but you're usually going to have a mixed fireteam (some HI plus some cheaper models), a cheap TAG, and extra cheaper bodies. Limited Insertion (one combat group only) makes low-count lists more viable, too, and cheaper HI/cheaper TAGs in N4 make it work better.
