Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Learning a lot from the replies to this thread. Especially knowing that scammer Engrish is deliberate, in at least some cases, that makes sense on reflection.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

I'm sorry but this bit I just find incredibly funny, albeit in a dark way

I did too, actually. I believe she went to the gym during those two hours. Or grocery shopping. I forget which.

I can remember being called numerous times per day for like 2 weeks by someone calling themselves the "Debt Consultants Affairs Division", claiming that I had an outstanding debt and that they needed to hear from myself or my legal representative immediately. I knew for a fact that I had no outstanding loans or anything and that it was a scam, so obviously I didn't call them back. What I wanted to do was call them and then pretend to be the FBI and tell them they had best surrender to the agents outside...

Et In Arcadia Ego

Canterbury

Way back in 2012 my housemate won a pretty sweet sales based competition and blagged 2 tickets to one day of the Olympics in London -- really great deal : free buffet breakfast, bag of free stuff, £25 on a charge card of spending money, transport to the venues and tickets to the athletics in the AM and then tickets to the tabletennis finals in the PM, then free dinner and bar and hotel room -- awesome day although the day after the free bar was....less enjoyable ...

Week or so afterwards we were contacted and informed that one of the organisers laptops had been stolen from her room -- no really important information on there but just to let us know.

Literally 1 or 2 weeks later -- and up until quite recently -- we get bursts of fake phone calls -- of late we get these automated ones informing us that our amazon prime account is about to be cancelled or that the tax people need to speak to us about either a refund or an unpaid bill. We'd get 2 or 3 calls a day at times -- sometimes just long enough for the answer phone to kick in and then the line goes dead -- this can also happen as/when/if I answer the phone as well.

We used to calls by actual people -- generally with a very pronounced Indian subcontinent accent -- informing us of various debts, bills or issues with our computers.
Kept one of them going for a good 40 minutes or so as he tried to talk me through how to remove the virus from my PC before the inevitable descent into random abuse and death threats .

Since the lockdown however not a single one.
