Machiavelli is a bit of a romeaboo and republican. The prince is basically just the blueprint on how to govern as an absolutist.
Vice versa the discorsi are quite a bit longer, deeper and more thorough.
Both are good reads regardless

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

I just finished the 2nd book in The Eisenhorn Trilogy and thought it was great. Unfortunately I took a few weeks break about 2/3s of the way through and feel it did ruin the momentum for me a bit, but still, enjoyed it all. I will be going back to the trilogy as soon as I fancy some more sci-fi.
I've been feeling the draw to some fantasy thought recently and decided maybe to continue The Malazan Book Of The Fallen with Memories Of Ice, but decided Id brush up on Gardens Of The Moon First.
As mentioned above, the second reading of it is much different to the first and probably a more enjoyable experience now I know whats going on. I'd say I'll end up going through it all again before moving on to book 3.

I liked the nightlords book, both the lord of the night and the trilogy in the night lord omnibus.

I will add them to the list. I've been on more of a science and maths journey rather than political philosophy recently. I need to try and gain some order to my reading material but I dont seem to be able to. I've developed a habit of reading a book, and watching YouTube videos on the subject in between reading, and find this can help me gain better understsnding of the subject matter.

I just read Dune: The Battle of Corrin, the third in the Butlerian Jihad series by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. They really set up a lot of the players from the main Dune stories in this one, including the Bene Gesserit, the Navigators, the Suk Doctors, and even the beginning of the long rivalry between the Atreides and Harkonnen families.

Someday all the dune books ever written may be piled in one spot and earth will suffer the same fate as Arrakis...

I read the Expanse novels by James S. Corey after watching the series. Absolutely super. Well thought out, good plot, great action and dialogue. Couldn't put it down.

I suggest people read "A child of Hitler" by Alfonse Heck,
It shows the rise, reign and fall of nazi germany from a unique perspective, that of a child who was ~4 when the nazis took power and spent his youth and adolescence under their society.
Very interesting reading. You can learn a lot about how terrible regimes work from this.
