Those are the ones from the Space Marine Heroes range and they do not have Chapter iconography from what I've been able to find.

They’ll be available to purchase very soon, both online and in stores, from select retailers. In North America, you’ll find these titles only at Barnes & Noble.

I really wish GW would just drop the "North America" pretense and just state USA. There are no Barnes and Noble stores in Canada.

I picked up the previous Space Marine Adventures game, with the Necron counters. It's not worth the cost for the miniatures, they're overpriced.

It was, of course, very disappointing as an actual game - not even worth attempting to revise the rules for a decent game

First off, while I paid full retail for Space Marine Adventures, I managed to pick up the supplements at half price from B&N in Seattle (score!), so I was REALLY happy with the value of the game.

Having said that, I would never have felt this game to be a waste of money even if I'd paid full price. It's basically a sort of infection/pandemic game where the Necrons are a disease infesting the board and your Space Marines are the antibodies fighting the infection, and I think it plays pretty well. The different difficulty levels really make a difference to your success and the game offers meaningful player decisions at most steps of a play-through.

More importantly than any of this though, my 7-year old LOVES this game and can get really excited when we have a nail-biting conclusion to a hard-fought campaign.

Agree with this, I thought the first Space marine was decent - I play with my 8 year old and he loves is. He was especially psyched when I replaced all the Necron counters with models as it would be "way more fun".

Barnes & Noble coupons are certainly the correct way to purchase these.

I'm really curious about the Blitz Bowl box. Surprised they're just rehashing the human team (I wouldn't have minded the Imperials instead, but that's a bit too wishful thinking).
I don't remember the dwarf team being push fit though. Seems an odd choice if one team is just pop together whereas the other is a bit more hobby intensive.

If Crypt Hunters is supposed to be more of an entry level game, I wonder if they'll tone down the misery that Lost Planet is capable of inflicting. You have to be in the right mindset going in to that game...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I'm glad they aren't doing Warhammer Underworlds again. Repackaging the easy build models into Dreadfane with a board that has the objectives printed on it and not regulation size, sold in select stores at $50, didn't exactly feel like a deal to me - even worse when they repackaged Dreadfane into a package without the board for $10.

Blitz Bowl is an amazing game, so glad it’s getting a 2nd season. A gentleman named Matt Thrower on Twitter confirmed the team cards included with his preview copy (believe the new ones are Lizardmen, Nurgle, Wood Elves, and one more? Can’t recall. It also includes Undead and Halfling cards if you missed those packs). It also looks like “Coach Upgrades” are a thing (not sure what they are)....maybe some sort of league opinion.

I will advertise every time a similar topic comes out the Betrayal at Calth game. It is a very good game. Too bad they never got to make an expansion for it. Even worse that the BaC box itself was mostly bought for miniatures with the boards/rules tossed out.

Try it. You might be surprised how good it is.

£35 for 5 minis and a game is kinda on the pricier side but I do like the terminators so wouldn't really complain in getting them, although I do have the servo skull termie already.

5 Terminators are already £32.50 and these are the super special blind buy ones, and most of the good ones at that. Looks like an instant buy for SM collectors to me!

I already found it odd the Rocket Pod Termi came with a bearded head, as that doesn't really fit with Blood Angels, but it works perfectly for a Space Wolf!

Agreed. They could have made a great game series using the BAC rules engine. Was disappointed when Burning if Prospero didn’t use those rules.

On topic, the closest B&N to me is a 90 minute drive. I will have to check in next time I am down there.

Be glad you can get any off it, still waiting for a UK release of Blitzbowl!

No complaining about UK not getting these until those crazy UK only magazines with miniatures (conquest?) are available in the US.

To be fair I would take Blitz Bowl over those deal magazines with a bunch of ETB models for very specific factions. Blitz Bowl is one of the most fun all comer games GW has ever put out (personally I think the gameplay is more fun than Blood Bowl, though it doesn’t have the great league aspect).

Touche

Hopefully you guys will be able to get it one day, i wonder if the sheer size of the US is a factor as i imagine they would need to cast several tonnes(and the rest) of plastic up, iirc the UK is only the size of Texas or some other state over there.

I feel that magazine culture isn't the same in North America as it is in the UK. In the UK, every tiny town and village has a newsagent and a massive selection of magazines. It just isn't like that in North America.

The popularity of print media in the UK has declined massively just like everywhere else. Conquest was available in one place local to me (I live in a suburb and looked for it in at least a dozen shops).

Magazines are basically all but dead in North America. There are relatively few places you can even walk in and find them any more. Also, part/piece work type mgazine subscriptions are relatively uncommon here, too. That's another barrier.

Meanwhile, as far as the board games go, if you're reading and posting on this board, there's a good chance you're NOT the target audience. GW has put them into non traditional outlets to attract more casual customers, and maybe lure them in. These are for those curious people or kids that might drop $50 to see what that 40K thing they heard about is, without a major investment. Not really intended for the guy with 6 armies and reads message boards religiously. That Blitz Bowl turned out to be a genuinley good game despite being a marketing stunt is awesome.

Hm, i could always use another gryph hound, and a simpler game that i could play with my nephews at whatever point i ever get to see them again...

I'm ok with the idea of the AoS one.

Uh...

I don't think that's true at all. I see Magazine racks at Walmart, the local gas stations, barnes and nobel stores all the time. And in the mail I see tons of stuff that comes (usually addressed to "current resident')

Then you’re living in a bubble of denial. Mass market print magazines are all but extinct. Niche magazines are having to adapt to fewer subscribers, and less advertising income. B&N and Walmart may carry magazines, but how many people do you see BUYING them? And my experience varies - I haven’t seen a magazine rack in a convenience store in a decade. Getting junk mail doesn’t count, either.

Blitz Bowl (season 1 or 2) should be an instant for anyone who wants a lighter yet still engaging skirmish game that takes up a small foot print. I loathe blood bowl, but I enjoy blitz bowl immensely. Gorechosen ( now retheme as combat arena), and blitz bowl are two of the best boardgames produced by GW since space hulk. Both designed by James Hewitt.

I'll be buying crypt hunters, as I need an excuse to get more out of my hobby bucks to get some chainrasps for my slowly building nighthaunt warcry warband. I think the design basis behind lost patrol is sound, gw just needed to give it some refining tweaks so players outside of the masochistic bent can enjoy it too. Their last release faded away justifiably imo.

Anyways.... blitz bowl. Buy it. Itll make you a believer in gw boardgames again, and shows that gw are actually Games Workshop on top of also being Greed Workshop.

As it hasn't been discussed a lot in this thread I just want to add that Attack of the Necrons is actually also a decent game. It needs a bit of tactics and what's more important is that it's self-contained, light on rules and understandable if you're not into 40K at all. So if you finally wanted to share some 40K with your wife that usually only rolls eyes about the Hobby, this is a way to go
The next step after that could be Blackstone Fortress...
