Thanks! I'm pretty happy with it so far, I am going to add something to the largest grass field as it is looking a bit barren.

Maybe a burnt out enemy tank??

That's a good idea, problem is getting one as I only have marine vehicles! I have been bidding on loads of terrible ebay models and they all end up going for near retail price and then I start to think I may as well just buy the full model; but if I buy it I will end up wanting to keep it! Maybe I will have to widen the search.

I used to get some absolute steals on EBay by buying joblots with quite random mixes of stuff. Nowadays, even weird joblots get bought up by resellers and sold on more expensively, I think. :(

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Posting as Fifty_Painting on Instagram.

It's very frustrating, I remember getting bits and bobs for reasonable prices and now they go for so much it's worth buying the full kit and then selling the rest on. It's the same across hobbies though, my dad has a G-scale model train setup and he used to get some amazing bargains and now the second hand stuff ends up selling for more than new!

Having said all that, I went back to eBay this evening and managed to pick up a few Xenos vehicles for half decent prices so can add some ruined bits.

After saying I would probably wait till I finish to update, I have followed the advice of MDSW earlier in this thread. So, I bought a Tau sky ray/hammerhead and have used it as a bit of decoration on the board.

I managed to get it pretty cheap on eBay as it was in poor condition, but it was fine for my purpose. I went for a simple black and white digital camo scheme to make it stand out on the board (ironically!). The camo is far from perfect, or even that great, but I had to do it by hand as I don't have an airbrush and I didn't want to spend ages only to cut it all up!

Here is a ground view looking towards the previously shown ruined rhino.

That looks really cool, I like how the material around the holes has changed colour with the heat. It gives it a xenos tech feel. The mound of dirt looks well executed too

Thanks, fortunately I have scatter of every kind of years ago so I was good to go!

I have another update today, I decided to do an imperial knight workshop type thing for inside the large bunker that sits at one end of the board. It has taken a while, mainly due to some parts being incredibly fiddly but it is nearly there now.

I have made a few walkways that can be used in games, and it has access points at the front for the train and the small door leads to walkways outside to a hill. There is also access for landraider sized vehicles so planning on using it in various scenarios, such as defending the bunker and so on.

I added working lights using the GW light fixtures that came with the old scenery kits. It looks quite atmospheric when they are used as the structure blocks quite a lot of light so they provide some nice effects

Thanks for the kind comments, been busy for a while so only just checked back here!

Recently made a scions/taurox squad as a bit of a break from making loads of scenery.

Nice taurox conversion, are they toy wheels? Do the wheels still move? The scions look nicely SAS

Thanks. It's the zinge kit so the wheels are fixed in place, but it's a nice kit that fits well with the taurox.

I love everything about this blog! The terrain is inspired and inspiring - i would jump at the opportunity to play on this table!

Love the knight workshop; great detail work.

The minis themselves are ace too - great lens work on the taurox and lovely little characterful additions to the scions.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the kind comments! I really enjoyed making the Taurox and Scions, I have just bought a Valkyrie I will painting up in the same scheme so looking forward to that!

So, another update on the board. I have made a few pieces of scenery to add a bit of character to the board and also to improve gameplay. As before everything is modular so I will be making new parts in the future that can be swapped over.

To start I have made an exploded storage tank. It was a very quick make as I wanted something to fill a space and that would provide a bit of cover.

Next up is some concrete walls that I made to provide an entrance to the city/train station area. These have bolter turrets built in and some Lascannon turrets on top. They have ladders on the back to provide access to the top and the right hand wall can also be accessed from the walkway that leads to the train station.

and I have just about finished the walkway that leads from the train station. There is a pipe below it that I am currently finishing up, there is a ladder at the end of the base platform that leads to the other side of the board.
