Thanks for the write up as someone debating getting into bugs this is very helpful. I had one question for the OP if he’s still around. You said “mawlocs SCORE” under the Mawlocs section. What does this mean? I don’t see them having objective secured rule being heave support. Thanks again.

At a guess I'd say its because they can deep strike essentially, and wipe off wimpy objective holders. Then they're tough enough to survive on it.

Mawlocs "score" by denying objectives, and are often key to me scoring "hold more" on the primaries. They also help me to score linebreaker or engage along with the other cheap deep strike I'm using. Also, when I was running two they could always come up on an empty objective as well if there was the opportunity. They are also great for removing banners from back objectives from aggressive armies, etc. They can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag, and they won't hold up to dedicated fire. But because they come up outside of 1" they can instantly contest an objective held by 1 or 0 models, which I find is quite common.

I have managed to play about 10 more games since I originally posted this article, and have continued to refine the list. I now run with a couple of small blobs of hormagaunts that can be useful road blocks or screens, and I moved one of the lictors into the kronos detachment to occasionally make use of the psychic deny strat against my harlequin and death guard opponents.

[Also at internet encouragement I tried dropping the mawloc and the warriors for more rippers and an acidfex. I really don't like the acidfex. D3 damage is terrible, and I even gave mine the dermic for an invuln and count as double wounds. Acidfex has to get too close and so is easy to kill with both shooting and hth. I also missed the warriors. I would really have to build around acidfexes to make them work, and at low str, low ap and d3 damage weapons I don't think they are worth the effort. If you can make them work for you more power to you. The straw that broke the camels back was in a game against white scars. I MO the acidfex onto an objective. I got charged by 3 bladeguard and a bike captain. I spent a cp on overwatch. I got 15 hits, 9 wounds, he saved 7 of them, cp rerolled a fail, and then I rolled 1 damage, and was immediately killed. I was down 200 pts, lost an objective, was down 2 cp and had done a single wound. Acidfexes have been beyond terrible in my experience. Maybe they are good if you are not fighting marines.]

My current list is doing about the same as the old list, which was very good (I'm 3-1 with the below list). It trades away the utility of the second mawloc for a different utility in horms. I do still miss the second mawloc, those things turn close games into victories. Basically, the original list with double mawloc is way better at going second, the current list with horms is better at going first. Double mawloc is also better at missions with 6 objectives, while horms give up slightly less vp for bring it down and are better on missions with 4 objectives. Test it out for yourself and see what fits your playstyle.

I have gotten a lot of questions on this so put together a very simple battle report that you can read to see the list in action. You can find it here:
