Not sure it's undervalued, but my favourite thing about 9th is Crusade...
Which means my favourite thing is the bespoke Crusade content in every Dex and Supplement. Right now, there are all kinds of threads on this forum about who shouldn't have their own dex, and how the tourney/ balance types all want this game to be busted back down into 10 megadexes.
In which case, Crusade players would lose all that bespoke content. So yeah, under appreciated- at least by the folk who want to take stuff from everyone else so that they can memorize the rules of all armies rather than just the ones they play in order to win a tournament, which many Crusade players couldn't care less about.

I wouldn't say biovores are undervalued I think everyone knows exactly how valuable those mortal wound throwing pain in the asses are. haha.
Tyranid Warriors, however. People don't get how good their platform is. They provide synapse, they each have 3 wounds. They can be taken in 9 model units with biocanons. Deathspitters are a legit great gun. And Boneswords make them a huge threat in melee. They are the swiss army infantry. In a Jormungandr list they get cover and can be burrowed into the mid field/front line by some raveners who are almost as good.
Tyranid Warriors are the bread and butter of my tyranid lists.
Agreed on all accounts, great unit and looks good as well

Until this week I would have said the Scythed Hierodule- a surprisingly lethal, speedy monster that became a lot more durable with Blood of Baal.
Well, now it's less speedy and less durable, but still lethal and a lot cheaper, so now it's being seriously considered and I think that's great.
As far as things that are still undervalued, I have to say walking Hive Tyrants, as niche as that is. Flyrants are cool, but sometimes you can put the points to better use, especially with Fly now being nerfed.

i know you joke about the knife thingy, but , i doubt they'd just be usefull as fusiliers
If i were ever to start a tyranid army, it be basically only warriors ...
well and venators but i just like the heavy infantry part of nids, still that is a really pricy army kinda .... model wise.
Personally, alpha legion chosen... it's just a squad with a reaper chaincannon and 4 combibolters... until it starts shooting double time...

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Heavy Stubbers. Have had many situations with Knights or AdMec where you just need that particular wound plinked off, not the most reliable but they can often impress.

Chainsword
Iconic wargear of the setting which has been relegated to a simple close combat weapon for a lot of editions.
Land Raider
Homage to the British World War I tank which had a tough time on the battlefield due to silly vehicle rules.

Necron Tesseract ark. The only FW unit i ever got. It was a hell of a lot better than a doomstalker, and more expensive in points and $.
GW will probably waft it away to the legends heap. I'm glad I didn't pay near what GW wanted for it.

Very much this. Behind Space Marines, the humble chainsword is quite possibly the single most iconic recognisable thing about the setting - even to non-players - and I'm glad it serves as a little more than just "standard melee weapon" these days.

The Open Hostility Mission Pack. They include some excellent attacker-defender scenarios with unequal forces but I suspect many people would never even consider trying them, convinced that only the matched play scenarios are valid.
So far I think one of the best ways to play 40k is datasheets only, maybe each player has a relic or a warlord trait and then some command points (p254) to spend on core stratagems like rerolls. Play the open hostility missions and have an awesome time.
