"I will respectfully say, though, that I think that attitude is not very conductive to getting new customers", - And considering I knew that was your goal from the onset was to be a troll I'm not surprised you would say this. That's the way you're trying to frame it to poison the well as it were. You're criticism was intended to be damaging to say "you don't belong" and need to prove your worth here for me now, and when I told you no I don't you taunted me with "If you can" The only reasonable response would to appear weak and not back up my work and say nothing or respond.

What I don't understand is why you would do that. I don't believe you were "shopping" and looking to be a customer. Feels more like cut throat business tactics, at first glance. Though it's a wild assumption, but you really don't seem like you were trying to use my services.

It's most likely you wanted to be negative for the sake of being negative.

I was, and am, looking for a designer, for a personal project of a more mechanical nature, mainly mecha design.

But again, feel free to believe whatever you like. You have a clear opinion, after all. I wish you luck in your endeavours.

You could have easily opened with "I don't have a lot of experience sculpting hard surface, I'm interested in seeing more of your work, but I feel that this size here is too small do you have any better examples or final prints?"

I don't have many examples of hard surface on hand of a mechanical nature. What I can tell you is hard surface modelling is time consuming, and expensive. I don't think you would be willing to deal with me after butting heads. But

I can give you an estimate and break down some of the process so you can find someone to meet your needs in the future. I see no reason we can't be civil and try to help you out.

B&R, firstly, I'm sorry. I was not attacking you. I should have written things better.
At this point I regret even commenting, but let me try and salvage this, there's some misconceptions and miscommunications.

To preface, I too am a professional creative, mainly in illustration, design and prototyping.
I had first seen your other 'help wanted' thread further down; thought, hey I can do some of this stuff, I should reach out. Let me do some research.
Then found this post.
After reading your long explanation about your recent company struggles, and that you were using fiverr, had some apprehension.

Optically, with how things are presented, can you understand why someone might think you're new to all this? Like just starting out in 3d biz?
You have a help wanted ad. And in this thread: next to no introduction/resume in your first post, a singular nicely finished sculpt; then a very TMI personal info dump alluding to hardships in a past management role/ years in some art field but not necessarily relevant to 3d sculpting/printing.
Other than the mounted knight sculpt, you have an orc head in your fiverr doesn't match your current work, and some random WIPs.

To paraphrase Albertorius, this is a 3d printing/modeling subsection of model hobby/wargaming oriented board; I presumed stuff posted within was going to be perceived as TT model scale related.
There's a lot of hobbyists here, trying new things, and other people give tips and critiques in these hobby boards all the time.
Being actively involved in other creative communities, where we constantly C&C each other to improve, it's a hard habit to break sometimes, sorry.
Considering the informal format of this thread, that long overshare of personal info, sporadic WIP without context; I honestly thought you were dabbling in 3d as a side-gig, looking for possible help, and that this is your casual 3d artblog.
I misinterpreted the situation. Again sorry.

People, I didn't say the tankard wouldn't print, but that at the presumed small scale the handle could snap off. At the now known larger scale, yeah, that should be fine. Again, misinterpreted intent of thread and scale based on limited info.
What I said wouldn't print were certain small details on the chemdog sculpt. Perceptually, they are narrower than the eye, and eyes on most (again presumed) tabletop miniatures are already fractions of <1mm.
Not that it matters, as has been clarified, it's not meant to be printed; but then why is it here? there some confusing communication choices. Sorry, again, I'm not trying to add stress in your life, but my last unsolicited advice is to reconsider how you're presenting your business to the wider community. This whole exchange was based on miscommunication.
Consider writing a proper intro post, let us know what you know, who are, where you're coming from, past exp, and passion areas.

edit: if you want, I can suggest some other non-dakka places to pitch your services, if you haven't already.

From third party perspective:-

Bayonet, you're not wrong; but you're also coming off quite caustic. Never a good sign for prospective customers as it makes you look hard to work with (even if you're not in reality). Romeo of Battlefoam is the classic example of where that ends up in our little market. Don't be like him, even if you're in the right.

Albertorius, his dismissing Ponda in an offhand fashion and then you in a brusque one got your back up, and your posts got a bit too indignant/interrogative back which helped spark the descent.Communication is a two way street, and I think he's misread what you're trying to do. Cut him a little slack and relax a little yourself.

Ponda, you're doing just fine.

So everyone take five, accept that passions ran high for a minute, and end it there. Remember we're all good friends on a board about toy soldiers of all things, and that the internet is famous for causing misunderstandings. Written text is a poor medium at times. No-one is out to ruin anyone's business, and no-one is trying to be deliberately offensive (or at least they'd better not be, Rule 1# is always in effect). Best foot forward please gents.

I guess the offhand dismissal got me riled up, and I was asking for clarification or examples, but it got the better of me.

Bayonet&Ricochet, I appreciate the offer, but I don't think either of as is good at communicating with the other, so I won't take up any more of your time.

I still have some refinements to make, add some battle damage and clean it up but it's almost complete. Anyone want one when it's finished?

I wanted to add that someone randomly somewhere possibly linked to the tenth person getting sculpts, or want a copy of this hammer when it's finished will be getting one free. PM for details.
The Hammer I'm offering up the STL for the personal use of the hammer aka fan art. And it's going for pretty cheap.

It's finished. The STL is print-ready. And You can assemble it easily.

Hot off the press and cheaper than a super fancy coffee.

PM to get a copy of the STL

And one lucky person will get one free.

Arms can be attached as you like, or if you're adventurous enough attach your own weapons and tools for a tech marine variant. The back has very large space for a chapter badge or squad markings. Made to be customized how you want.
