Ravening hordes was rather thin, so not a lot of the flavour of the factions was included. I cant blame GW for that, they did a good job with getting that much Warhammer in so small a document.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Agreed, I just misremembered the Arrowhead since the Lance formation actually DID make it in.

They had little choice frankly, Brets are underpowered without it and the 5th era knights didnt rank up directly. The archers didnt either though.

I use 5th edition Bretonnians so I stagger my archers, my second rank is one model shorter than the first. I use the half spaces at the end to mount braziers

This is part of the attitude I've been talking about though. Instead of just walking away, you had to go and make a big show of things, which has a stifling effect, rather than one that includes people.

No, my responses in this thread have been more than inclusive. Only 1 person has been stifling and nonunclusive, and it's the person that's accusing other people of doing the things they themselves are doing, all while trying desperately to be the final absolute point in the conversation.

Or, to pull what you just pulled:

"Like only what I like. Last word."

Emphasis by me.

As for last word, I'm not the one that said they were done.

In my little opinion it is SUPER easy to take things the worst possible way when they are written out in text like this by strangers. I have found that most people on here just genuinely want to show off their skills/knowledge and over text it can be easy to sound like a know-it-all unless we give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they weren't trying to be jerks when we read their statements.

We're all only on this site because we all love the same board games and because the company in charge of it decided to pump out new money grabs every year instead of committing to an edition.

Imagine if chess had an edition update every 5 years and you had to buy new chess pieces every time to be able to keep playing.

Most guys on here sunk a HUGE amount of time and money into the edition they fell in love with and they are going to think their opinion is correct and have some ego invested in there with all that time and money.

That's OK! When Tiny and Tony state that they think 6th edition is the best in a matter-of-fact way, that doesnt mean they are calling people who enjoy the 8th stupid, they just really do believe that they are right and 6th is most fun.

Same thing goes for the guys who love 8th. You can think that 6th is stupid without thinking the PEOPLE who play it are, and we all need to be careful to give each other the benefit of the doubt when we're reading their opinions. In an opinion based topic it is impossible for anyone to be wrong...unless you like AoS... (just kidding! Couldnt resist...)

WHFB 6th Edition
Our club owns most of the models from all 6th Edition armies and plays out of Massachusetts

@MattyFenby

I get that. My whole point was less people are attacking others, and more that the way people were expressing their opinion was causing a stifling effect on conversation.

When someone asks about the upsides of an edition, and are told that x small thing is 'good', and then proceeds to list off a laundry list of 'negatives', or when someone lists off a bunch of what they consider positive qualities, only to have several people come and shoot them down, it hurts interest.

And yeah, screw AoS! (j/k)

This has been very enlightening to read through, for the most part. Thank you very much for information gentlemen. The Knights are fairly pricey online so I’m looking to take a 3D printed approach to them. Until then I’ll be getting the Archer Units spruced up and ready for battle.

I think the local community has been rallied to the 6th/7th ruleset to start things off. I put pout the word and several people had either been studying up with a similar intent or just painting up some of those models for fun and wanted to jump in as well. Just a handful of us but I’m excited to get started.

So thanks for all the advice!

This line of reasoning broke 7th edition in Fantasy. The books should be as equal as possible, even a theoretical "Codex: Squirrels with Crustacean allies" should have a fair chance to beat "Codex: God".

- Cost? FW models cost more? Because Thudd guns are more expensive than Wraithknights and Riptides. Nope, not a good argument. This is an expensive game. We play it knowing that, and also knowing that, realistically, it's cheaper than hookers and blow.
