....still have yet to any painting, but I converted up a generic Iden Versio. My buddy did some very minor tweaks on his Rex with green stuff to make it well, not Rex.

So, after thinking about it. I decided I wanted a generic Scout Trooper commander. Iden is about the only commander who makes Scout Trooper units worth using (and I bought 3 units of them), and I wasn't going to run ISF with Iden... since I loved Scout Troopers. So took some inspiration from my buddy to convert up an Iden.

Here is my new commander Aiden (Something)-o, haven't figured out a last name. And I am going to use the generic Empire R2 unit as ID-10. I have Iden's actual model, but multiple part question, would you be against somebody playing this as Iden and ID-10? And, help me think of a last name haha.

Sorry for the poor quality phone photo. Besides doing a bit of green stuff on the shoulder I had to remove from the Shore body, and the supporting arm to make it meet the torso better, it is done.

Okay. So I think I have managed to accomplish one of my better pinning projects with Boba Fett.

I don't know what it is, but plastic flight stands are something I despise... and with one Boba Fett was going to be too tall to fit into a single slot in my case. Since silhouettes exist for small based minis, doesn't matter that he is shorter than he would be with the flight stand.

I wanted Boba to look lile he was JUST blasting off, and I am happy with the result. It is a shockingly solid mount for such a tiny contact area since the pin runs essentially the whole length through Boba's foot. Hoenstly really happy with the result (althougj the backpack isn't glued on since I am finishing up filling the now empty void for the flight stand and pinning the flames onto the thrusters).

I know what you mean. Flight stands are functional, but I'd rather have anything else if I have the option. It's cool on my Rebel speeder since it's so close to the ground that you can hardly see underneath, but I've been holding off assembling some other models until I have a good idea what to do about their flight stands.

No idea if you came up with a name in the meantime, but if the first name is so close to the original, how about Vecchio? Or some variation of that?

Anyway, as far as making a character your own goes, I'm totally in favor of it. A friend of mine prefers to run his own Death Trooper commander instead of Krennic. I have my own plans for the odd unit, too. No point in letting a rigid rule set that's constrained by licensing concerns get in the way of having fun with your models. Plus the big names can't be everywhere at once but people with similar skillsets just might.

Ya know, I kind of like Vecchio. I will probably go with that for now. Got to run my Iden stand-in for the first time last weekend in an Iden/Bossk list... and wow. Iden is insane. Was wiping full B-1 units left and right with them.

I have a Dewback Rider that I just finished painting to add to the thread.

And while I'm at it I may as well throw in the other Imperial models I painted since the last time I posted anything in here.

And I have Ahsoka to add:

She's intended as a display piece, though being unarmed she can also fit the role of hostage if I'm so inclined. Still waiting for the official model (and rules), but at least AMG announced that it'll come eventually.

So uh, remember back in March when I was all, 'so what is this star wars game like anyone, I guess I'm kinda curious, sort of...'

I just finished painting 800 points worth of Separatists, with some Droid commandos on my painting table too.

Senators Amidala and Chuchi:

I know it's Star Wars and wargaming, but after having a good time painting Senator Chuchi I'm of the opinion they should make more models of civilians. Star Wars has some fun costumes and designs and the senator was very refreshing after painting the umpteenth trooper. Ah well, now that that bit of extravagance is done I guess it's back to painting uniformed soldiers again.

Well, I posted my first generic Iden conversion earlier in this thread... but decided to take another crack at it, trying to make it look like a Storm Commando instead of just a Scout with a blaster rifle.

I think I was much more successful this time, what do you all think? The last picture makes the new one look shorter, but it is actually a hair taller than the old attempt.

Looks cool. I think it was a good idea to go with a body with shoulder pad to give the model a bit of an officer or specialist look. I think that suits a character better.

It was an absolute pain cutting and trimming the shoulder pad off of the Stormtrooper body (and saving the shoulder strap that runs under the arm), but I think ot was well worth the effort of cutting it off and fitting it to the slightly thinner Scout Trooper torso.

It should also help once I get some paint on it, since it will have black armor to match the normal Storm Commando look.

Main inspiration for giving it another go was that my buddy and I swapped armies for a game so I could try a CIS list, and he could run my Iden/Krennic list. He had a hard time spotting my other Iden conversion among the three standard Scout Trooper squads in the army when he was running it.

So, I can only imagine that if it was hard to spot the previous Iden when somebody was playing my list, it must have been even harder to spot it among the Scout Troopers on the other side of the board (even with the Commander Token I place near it).

Heh, I can well imagine what fun that would have been.

But yeah, let's see that paint on the model.

Indeed, it's never a bad idea to be considerate to your opponent and make it obvious what's what in your army. It may be more of a problem for games that tend towards realism as most officers try not to stand out as sniper bait. Star Wars can have that, but it also has plenty of opportunity for really colorful characters.
