If they treat harlequins like a supplement I think that would be fine. That's basically all they've ever been anyway. Treat them like tempestus scions pretty much.

Inquisition is something that really should be in the game, but unfortunately hasn't been (in any real actually useful sense) since... I mean had it ever been?

I mean sure you can field an inquisitor, and you could even throw in some random imperial agents, but its a tax and the rules are shoddy.

Assassins are at least not the worst thing right now.

Inquisition peaked in 3rd- too bad GW abandoned the edition before they released Alien Hunters... Another reason I think that edition churn is more of a problem than the flaws of any given edition.

I like the Inquisition rules from Pariah- the army just needs to be able to treat units from their Chambers Militant as Inquisition units.

I'd like to see the missing henchmen types returned. If Kill Team gets Inquisition teams, we might have a shot at a full-on Agents dex this edition.

Tyranids - swamping enemies with "I've got more bodies than you have bullets" has it's charm, especially when momma Tervigon keeps pushing batches of her babies into an enemy force before she comes rampaging in to avenge her lil' terror babies.

Also, Tau - creating an island of death with half the army and using the other half to hunt down units too afraid to come to into range.

I am aiming for one of those metal measuring sticks for the next KT box early Saturday. Put my money on this system in hopes that we get inqu 28 type entries and from there.., who know but only hope.

I've played most of the armies through various editions and my favorites have constantly been changing. Currently, I'm having a lot of fun with my Krootsade Force.

It's quite underpowered, but I've always liked playing as the underdog, so it doesn't bother me that much. Aside from not having a true HQ choice (running 2 Ethereals with Marker Drones) there are just enough options (including the old Knarloc Riders and Greater Knarloc) to give a 50PL army enough variety to be fun. (The 2 aforementioned Ethereals, 2 Shapers, 4 Krotox, 60 Carnivores, 12 Hounds, 6 Riders, and 1 Knarloc.)

The Army is surprisingly fast and maneuverable, and when set up the right way, surprisingly tanky with a decent punch back. You basically have to play objectives though as there's a good chance you'll get cleaned off the table by something like Marines, even so, you're fast enough that it's not a foregone conclusion.

I only play casually, so take that as you will; but I find that being the underdog with an unconventional playstyle, plus how cool the Kroot Lore is, just all fits into a nice happy puzzle.

Now, if only GW would give them some love...

Before 7th, I would have said orks, but I have had games against the top dogs of that edition where fun simply wasn't part of the game. There is no fun to be had when your army is wiped out before you even had the chance to move or when you get obliterated without damaging a single enemy unit. There is a limit to how hard you can lose while still having fun.

Luckily, those times are over. Right now buggy lists are immensely fun to play, even if you get you but handed by pre-nerf drukhari you still feel like you did something cool.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Even though boyz are awful now I still enjoy ust maxing out my ork list with as many bodies as i can fit (primarily boyz) and just flooding the field with bodies. its also fun seeing the look on the opponent face as models just keep being put down and covering most of the deployment zone. added bonus despite boyz being bad if facing a non tailored list all that anti tank is now basically useless and so games can actually be kind of competitive when its all snakebite infantry and even mroe so when running as beast snagga boyz

Orks of course! Shoutin' WAAAGH, goin' fast, and esplodin' 'ard! Also, talkin' like an ork is my favorite fictional accent, next to pirate that is...AND THERE ARE ORK PIRATES!

Anything that can be decently played by using a "collection of models" with a bit of everything, instead of skew lists and can effectively mix shooting and melee.

Orks are my favorite faction but greentides aren't fun.

Basically, all chaos should be.
Any archetype really you can think off you could build with the list.
Customizability to no end.
All round decent: Can be built to facilitate :

Hordy Melee / shooty.
Elite melee / shooty.
Durable.
Mechanised
Footslogging.
Combined arms (did that actually really well)
Artillery.

No two armies were the same and played the same.

It's honestly a shame what GW did to the FW lists...

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Rinyon Encirclements Tau from 6th and 7th

It's a gimmick that I'm suffering withdrawal from. Just putting kroot blobs and whatever else that can be given outflank with that Core Rulebook warlord trait behind my opponent's units in their deployment zone and being able to erase problem tanks, backfield objective holders or gunlines without needing to use my chronically missing hammerheads or diverting broadsides from more pressing targets just always puts a smile on my face

Hell even dropping a gun drone swarm in the exact spot to cause the most havoc without scattering was pretty damn funny

My personal secret lair

There is something I like about all my armies and it is hard to choose a favorite in the end.

Drukhari I play the most and have played wych heavy lists most of the time since 2010. The speed and manouverability along with evil skills and all that. Win or lose, always a fun one to play.

Catachan. Who doesn't like and army of expendable units. Nothing too elite, just loads of stuff to throw at your enemy and when (not if. When) something dies you have more to throw in.

Harlequins do horrible things and are a bit of a gamble that adds to their appeal. Things can go horribly wrong or very well. Anything can happen.

Chaos Space Marines. No matter what happens I love cultist models and terminator models and rhino chassis tanks and that alone makes them enjoyable for me to play no matter what.

I shall rule the world someday utilizing my cuteness. And I already have one minion to help me do it!

Of course it makes sense. When there are a bunch of BDSM clowns doing Olympic gymnast routines throughout your unit, while also cutting off heads, you tend to get a bit distracted.

I have found that my fun with 40k depends a lot on the attitude of my opponents.

I probably won't have fun with an opponent who quibbles over millimeters and challenges every rule to look it up. Win or lose, regardless of army.

Having just played a 5-round tournament with them, I'd have to say Sisters. Probably the most fun I've had with 40k in a long time. They've just got so many tricks and stuff going on, and the models are truly awesome as well!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
