Yep, I can only imagine that a painter that good could work well with those blank spaces. I guess for me that sort of sums up my feeling on Wyrd's minis, though, if you want to put in the effort they can look really nice (and they have enough character that they were a lot of what encouraged me to eventually paint professionally), but it also often requires that work, and especially with PVC's typically weak texture/detail added to the mix, I don't find it rewarding to paint without some sort of support system. With enough time and effort, one can salvage even junky board game models, but especially if you don't have that time... it would take a pretty much perfect design for it to feel worth it to me, and the up-scaling without it looks like more detail doesn't do that for me.
