Let's also not forget that Krieg aren't on general release yet - you can currently only get a squad if you happen to find an unsold copy of the Octarius (I think it was) Kill Team box.

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

If the kit isn’t finecast, looks good and fits together well I don’t see a problem. There’s only a couple of infantry plastic kits that need replacing now, and to a degree if even argue that the plastic Guardians didn’t need replacing yet(still not complaining). I do think a lot of GW fans/fans that complain about everything expect that kits should be replaced on a cycle for no reason other than they should but that’s more of a symptom of being stuck in the GW bubble.

How long should a kit last?

It depends, there are a few qualities that might let a kit last for decades:

1) The kit is a good one. Popular in terms of aesthetics and/or full of options. The current battle sister kit for example can be good forever.

2) The kit belongs to an army that doesn't get many updates.

3) The kit represents a unit for a faction that got an updated counterpart, so it doesn't need to be updated. Like firstborn kits when primaris were released, now they can last forever.

4) The kit represents a unit for a faction that is designed to be based around different units. so it doesn't matter if that kit is ancient.

Generally speaking IMHO if I like a kit I wouldn't want it to be replaced/updated, it can truly last forever. Like classic ork boyz.
