Ha! yes, I have quite a bit of pocket change under many of my mini bases, too!

As a lot of others, my first were the Brets - actually the Men-at-Arms, I believe from a battalion box set nearly 20 years ago. I did the royal blue and yellow scheme and still love them to this day. I might have to snap a pic of some!

I started with Poeni Citizen Medium / Heavy Spearmen for a 15mm "Carthaginian" army (cobbled together from the figures I could find that even vaguely looked the part).

Only started with non-historical and other scales over a decade after that.
