Yeah, I never had any trouble playing 2000pt games in 2hrs or less in 3rd-5th, and those usually went to six turns. It didn't take an average of 60 dice rolls for a squad of Guardsmen to inflict a single casualty on a squad of Marines, I wasn't firing every weapon on every unit every turn due to stronger restrictions on targeting/movement/weapon type, the morale system allowed for units to be taken out of the fight without being totally wiped out, and I never heard 'hang on, I think I have a thing for this' followed by thirty seconds of flipping through the Stratagems section.

The lethality is a band-aid for inelegant design- and often counterproductive, since lethality boosts that involve more dice rolling (re-rolls, bonus shots, 2D6-pick-highest, etc) don't actually speed up the game.

Its almost like the old toughness and wound system accounted for this.

To many unpainted models to count.
