Checked through the page of the command tercio and yeah they feel kinda silly. If you wanted to go without a cohort you could have 6 squads heavy on the special weapons. The fact that every single model has a refractor feels insane, but that is the crusade era for you. 40Ks relics are 30K's dimestore nicknacks.

They aren't half bad either for Melee aswell. If you hand them some shotguns if you go penal, they gain the better CQC Stats ontop of a chance to cripple an enemies unit's WS. Crack open the vaults for powerweapons and Blastpistols and you are golden. Personal favourite sofar is the powermaul with the sword beeing a close second.
The axe suffers the axe syndrome. Add to that the fact that you can have in the main squad a marshall upgraded and hand him aswell power weapons or power fist.

And considering it's a tercio with the option to add in 2 more companion squads on top you can secure damage.

That said, the command tercio beeing basically stand in for anti power armor and terminator armor and the only competent infantry for that still hurts, because it's also the only competent line infantry and the only anti elite. The tanks that SHOULD be able to thread over legionaires just don't do it and the only variant actually working for it's points is once again the vanquisher variant but even then more so due to flanking rather than staying power.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Well they fill the role of damage dealer. They wouldldn't hold the line or objectives that well. You'd want to present a line of rifle sections to catch bullets.

Just trying to think of ways to get them into the position to provide that glass hammer punch. They arn't like Scions who have the inbuilt delivery system. A dracosan is too expensive and you can only fill half it's capacity. A Aurox feels a bit too flimsy though, and explosions will hurt like hell if it does get popped.

A termite drill would probably be ideal. Pop up, unload with a lot of plasma and melta then hope you've put enough pressure on to keep them from being ripped apart.
