I hear you. Lining those tanks can be a PITA. I’ve done mine with either a micropen or with a fine brush and ink. But I blackline, so a bit more options. Worth it though.

Did you grab a proof pic? Just a reminder that all entries need to be started in the month. Great work.

I knew I forgot something. No, I didn´t take any before or even during pics... Sorry.

Inexperience is not a permanent condition. Stupidity is!

No worries. We’ll take you at your word that you did that in the month. Just try to remember to grab them in the future.

I made a good bit of progress on the Bladeguard yesterday, still quite a long way to go before I'm happy. I have to go back to some shading on the armour, still have the powerswords to do and lots of bits of detail. I'm trying to think up something extra fancy for the bases. I tell you what, plenty of mistakes have been made while doing the painting

Progress continues on The Lion:

Green cloak is done, but the lion pelt kind of needs something, like maybe another drybrush. Gonna have to be careful so I don't ruin the green I've already got where I want it.

I am soooo into that Lion model….just an incredible looking thing!

The work going on in here is already looking pretty fantastic! I have only just started putting some base colours down myself…

Mistakes were made...for one thing, I haven't painted a single model since December, so this will probably come out pretty damned rough.

Spoiler:

Also a mistake - an Ork taking a shortcut to power by having themselves hard wired into a giant killing machine, only to learn that the downside is that they are now hard wired into a giant killing machine.

Expect tabletop quality at best, I took the photo last week and have since primed it (and the not pictured weapons), but other than that am starting out tonight.

Shockingly I'm in danger of having my powers of procrastination fail me this month. I'll likely finish my entry by the middle of the month.

Which leaves me with extra time to prep models for the centennial, so I'm good with that.

My procrastination is on track. Got the purple down and tidied up on the swarmlord, base down for the marine’s whites. Ton more to do for the snipers, swarmlord has a lot fewer steps.

Month is about 1/3rd over. Plugging away.

Hi guys. Its been a while.

Mistakes Were Made:
Once upon a time, there existed a game called Super Dungeon Explore. The manufacturer's range contained some sweet models - in fact, to this day, I consider their miniatures the gold standard for chibi minis in terms of art direction and proportions. They delivered two wildly successful Kickstarters, the 2nd of which this model is from.

Their mistake: Then they proceeded to fail spectacularly on their last Super Dungeon Legends Kickstarter (among other Kickstarters and other commitments)...
My mistake: I backed that Kickstarter. Caveat emptor indeed.

Now: Seven years later: This Kickstarter will never fulfill. Much good will was squandered. Much money was lost. Many backers were disappointed.

I'm in. My first mistake is probably trying to paint anything on a deadline in May; it's perennially as busy a month for me as December is.

This fellow's mistakes began generations before he was born when a distant relative allowed themselves to be kidnapped by a four-armed purple alien.
Now he toils in the mines for the emperor. A second mistake occurred when he lost his left arm from the elbow down in a heinous industrial accident (the local Mechanicus were more than happy to offer a bionic replacement). He now uses it to cradle his one true love, the double barrel shotgun that he mistakenly believes will deliver him from Imperial tyranny. More mistakes will undoubtedly be made as he tries to tangle with the Emperor's finest.

May I present Formerly Sister Misericordia:

Now I know I always go 'oh careful this mini's NSFW' and we all have a chuckle about how I've inexpertly dabbed some paint on a daemonette's boob to pretend there's a nipple there, but I'M NOT GODDAMN JOKING THIS TIME, it's on you if you click the spoiler.

Spoiler:

So clearly many mistakes were made (including, as always, not being thorough enough in getting rid of mould lines), but the specific one here is that Misericordia, then a member of a particularly zealous minor order of the Sisters Hospitalier that taught that all things are part of the Emperor's plan, felt such deep shame at being angry at those who harmed the Sisters who ended up in her care - since even if the perpetrators were horrible xenos scum, the Emperor made them so and it wasn't for her to be angry at His divine plan - that she spent every spare hour praying to be purified of cruel thoughts. Technically she got what she wanted, in that Sylelle - in one of her whimsical moods - turned her into this, and what's left of Misericordia is having a wonderful time infecting every hapless victim she'd herded towards with her virulently contagious mutagen-laden bodily fluids, because it feels so good that [i]not[i] sharing it would be cruel.

What a stimulating model!

In all seriousness, that’s actually a much better representation of how weird and abhorrent daemons are supposed to be than a lot of the official stuff.

Hey folks,

Newbee here, hoping to get a few mini's painted and ready for the new edition, I have been thinking off giving painting/playing a go for a few years and finally bit the bullet.

I got this guy off ebay, the previous owner made a nice job painting him..... but sadly they made a mistake and painted him blue (yeah I know right?!)

Never fear though, some lovely dark green paint will redeem this captain and all will be forgiven and he can take his place among the angels.

I managed to get his head off (I haven't painted any faces yet so I was just going to stick a helm on)

I was about to stick a fancy one on with wings on the sides but noticed he has one hanging on his belt, two helms seems a little extravagant, even for a captain.

I looked through the little bundle of dark angels bits I got for some conversions and found a hooded one which I think fits.

Some before photo's and some when primed ready to go.

Just coincidence, I hadn't seen that until I looked it up just now. The neck tentacle idea just arose organically (pardon the pun) from laying out a bunch of maybe-use-this odds and ends from the bits box and seeing where inspiration struck: I was originally going to attach a gentleman's part (because Slaanesh would) but the Spawn's hunched-over pose wasn't conducive to that, but the gentleman's part came from the same statue kit as a couple of lady parts, and I'm saving the au naturel one for a Keeper of Secrets but there was a variant with a battery-operated whatsit protruding, and it occurred to me that I could file the end of that flat and match it to one of the random tentacles from the Spawn set, and stick her head on the end like that critter from John Carpenter's The Thing.

Story:
Spoiler:

Phonzo the cursed is a page of sir Tarosso, an atleast five hundred times recast knight of Sigmar who always at the failings of Phonzo ends up dented dead.. but.. because he is too proud he refuses to acknowledge that his page is such a mess-up and just takes the loss again and again.. to hope lessening the times Phonzo causes problems he has allowed his page to wear some of the finest Sigmarite armor, albeit only as much as Phonzo can carry without dieing of exhaustion from the weight begin with.

Phonzo himself for some reason, has yet to fall even once.. (naturally, being fatal to his existence being just a peon.) landing his curse onto Tarosso's fate for evermore.

Now, the scenario depicted in this marker unit may hopefully be Phonzo's kicker..sparing Sigmar hundreds more of the hassle of having to recast Tarosso.

WE SHALL SEE!

-
Phonzo was accompanying (obviously) Tarosso who had just polished his entire armor to look the part doing some diplomacy with the revenants of the Sylvaneth, Tarosso sitting on his horse one of the finest breeds, noticed that up ahead the road was overrun with brambles, thicker than usual.. likely a sign of entering Sylvaneth territory..

"hmm! impedimentis obstructionatum preventoranum!!" Tarosso exclaimed, expressing the concern to progress..

Phonzo raised his hand and stated "My sir knight! Let me do awayeth with these brambleses so that for onceth we maketh and completeth our questh..eth.."

Tarosso raised his vizor and declared proudly.. "Which with shall thou do this deed? Page Phonzo!"

Phonzo felt acknowledged and in his enthousiasm grabbed on to Tarosso's crossbow dangling from a strap beside his steed.. prepared to shoot away the brambles with atleast a thousand bolts required. "With your blessings! Sir Taros.." *SWHINGGGK*

The crossbow went off from its single loaded bolt hitting Tarosso's steed in its thigh, the creature rushed straight into the brambles tearing Tarosso clean in half while Phonzo' was entangled into the strap, pulled along after it..

"Phonzoooooo..." Tarosso's disembowled torso whailed as Phonzo disappeared into the distance, attached to his horse..

Tarosso's horse galopped in a panic past numerous suprised revenants until finally bolting at Drycha's clearing.. throwing Phonzo forward screaming..
Where did Phonzo land? Would he ..still ..be alive? (sigh!), did Sigmar break another soul forge in frustration for having to once again reforge Tarosso?
Do Revenants eat horses?

These are the questions one must ask.. or perhaps doesn't care to ask..

Perhaps.. it would be better to forget about Phonzo..

But for those who cannot!.. Phonzo being thrown off Tarosso's horse can function as a marker to games looking to reveal Phonzo's fate.. dead or alive.

The pics aren’t that bad, but it seems a mini that hard to get a good angle on. When holding the mini in hand and spinning it around 360, what is it’s best sides? Do the pictures capture that? Are there features you want to highlight?

Yes it looks to me that for one the detail on Phonzo (the peon) isn't very clear, and a lot of work has been put into the base which also falls flat on my picture..
I'm going to experiment a bit with different theme settings on my camera and see if that improves things, while trying to get the camera in closer too.. I made these pics from further away because my camera's up-close quality is generally bad (its a zoom camera :/) and I do have a super-macro camera (on batteries go figure) aswell.. but that one's pretty old.. I'll test that one too I guess.

Usually pictures ruin the impression of my work.

Anyway, kind regards. I'll probably replace the images in my entry tomorrow or soon enough.

So I have been lacking in time, motivation and inspiration so far this month, but I finally figured out something that fits the theme and I can complete in the few days I have before I’m away for the rest of the month; sometimes mistakes are made and there’s only one way to fix them for sure:

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And a few hours later, time to end the mistake, sanction extremis!
