Yep. If you want balanced games look elsewhere.

Meanwhile i just aim to have fun and laugh at crazy events.

As is my armies haven"t changed that much in 10th. Overall pretty similar.

There's normal GW unbalanced and then there's 'why am I even here?' unbalanced.

When one army can do 80 mortal wounds per turn and another only has 1 source of Devastating wounds PERIOD, we're in the second one.

Honestly, I don't think there's anything different in this way than what there was before. Some stuff is clearly overcosted and worthless. Some stuff is wildly undercosted and will dominate the meta. Same as always, if anything its just easier to see now.

There's so much context missing in this comment.

It's basically the 40k equivalent of 'Why do emissions standards even matter? There's still gonna be pollution so who cares?'

I see it much as going from a world lacking emissions standards to one that... still lacks emissions standards. Like these complaints have existed for the last 30+ years. I'm not going to pretend that this time its any worse or any better than the last 6-7 times.

Then you're just wrong. Or incapable of realizing differences in severity. Even the height of Nids format in 9th was nowhere near this bad. 7th edition was the only edition with worse faction balance and that gak almost killed 40k entirely.

Pretending that it's all the same is, again, the 40k equivalent of those people who are like 'Well, one side wants eat babies and hunt poor people for sport and the other side wants to raise the tax on cigarettes 2% so they're really just both the bad guys.'

Then you have not been to enough places. I have been to wrestling events in Polish mining region, east Germany , pre war Ukraine and one time in China. All places are bad, all were polluted, but in China we couldn't go out of the hotel and some dudes were getting sick even inside their room, without going out.
Everything can be graded. There was a time in 9th, when GK were considered good, when Custodes were powerful etc. but non of them compared to pre nerf Votan, Eldar or pre nerf DE. There is unbalance and there is half the armies have nothing to look for when playing certain other armies. The gap between the mid tier armies, never mind the bad ones, and the top or good is gigantic. And it only gets worse then more casual the players get and the gap of skills becomes smaller.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

10th edition is really fun...so long as you can ignore the issues. I look forward to if/when they can figure the issues out, but not the process to get there.

That's what I was predicting - that 10th would be a painful mess while they rebalanced and everything settled.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

But, Canadian are you still someone that doesn't play? Not 40k, or 30k, or OPR, or anything, but just studies the 40k tournament scene in the same way that someone studies the games of NCAA basketball, or NHL, or the NFL?

I haven't played any 10th edition yet, but that's not exactly unusual. But no, I haven't returned to playing regularly and am still perpetually stuck between cleaning and repairing my old models and trying to sell the whole mess as a bulk lot.

And do you still make posts in the effort to cause "nerd rage" (you're words)?

I don't think I need to make any effort in that regard. These forums melt down over every slight change.

Do none of you have a friendly playgroup to enjoy the game with? I don't at the moment which is a big part of why I play other games these days but I always find it surprising how many Dakkanauts only seem to have PUGs to play.

Is Juneteenth a holiday in Canada?

No, we don't have the same race tensions here as you do down there to necessitate such a day. We have September 30th's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which sheds light on the horrors inflicted upon the native population by residential schools.

I have a friendly playgroup to enjoy the game with.

So friendly, in fact, that they will happily play other games.

Playing 40k is a special thing to me, because I am rarely in the "mood" (*insert clever erectile dysfunction joke here*)

I do. A fair sized one in fact. And a good # of us? We regularly play all sorts of games, not just 40k/GW stuff. Sooo many games, so little actual game time....

That's my experience as well. None of us have so much free time that 4 hours for a single game of 40k seems appealing these days.
