I liked the versatility of the kits. All the State Troops units could be mixed and matched together.
It just puts me in the mind of that golden age when I played Orks in 40k and got gifted a bunch of Fantasy units by accident but was able to mix them into my 40k army because everything was compatible.

I think that the War Wagon is almost a certainty.

In terms of which state troops we're going to get, I think that the 8th Edition ones are more likely as they were the last ones in production and were still being sold until reasonably recently.

As for the Arcane Journal, I think that we'll see a Marienburger list (because it fits well with the Wolves of the Sea list and theme in the Chaos AJ), and a Nuln Gunnery School list (why else would they say that thing about Nuln Oil?)

I'd love to see the Halfling Hotpot and the Halfling mercenaries come back, alongside Reiksguard Foot Knights, but honestly out of all the above the only thing I'd be willing to put money on is the War Wagon and 8th Edition models for State Troops.

A new war wagon would be nice, the original would have to be redone in resin anyway, it can't be cost-effective in metal.

As I said before they really should have made the wizard wagons with a war wagon build, it would mean losing the astrolabe or the magic laser but it would be so much more practical.

Yeah, I think the old Knights kit is going to be back for sure - who knows, maybe even with the White Wolf sprue they used to do!

you currently have

knights (in core)

Inner circle knights (in specials)

--------

if GW wants more knights. one unit per 1000pts

knights panther
knights of the blazing sun
knights of the white wolf

are all easy to expand on

--------

or as there's no movement penalty for armour any more

knights on foot

(for all variants)

.

so back the good old days were you build everything out of the militia box, including pistoliers because the goofy new models don't fit the rest of it

and I guess the militia box will be cheap enough to make it worth building the Greatswords from them as well instead of using the actual kit

Oh I'll be getting plenty of the militia, but I'll be ebaying the state troops I still need from the 6th edition range

I still have plenty of both, I would have needed the old metal knights (already have proper horses) to make a good looking army

but in general for anyone starting Empire now, the Militia box and bretonnian Knights box are the 2 sets one needs to make a proper looking Empire army
and that is the sad thing about it, as it is the very same situation we had for all those years

I wonder if the circa 1999 Empire troops will be back, the ones with extra bonus ruffles on their uniforms.

Does anyone want them back?

I could use a few sprues to fill out some units and things, but a figure with a part count higher than its point cost gets old quick.

It would never happen, but if they did a remastered version of the 1999 State Troops with single piece bodies, I'd be tempted. Do them like the old metal dudes with the plug in sword n' board, halberd, or greatsword. Those would be great for bulk unit fillers.

Pretty pleased looking at the releases. I bought into Bretonnia as my primary OW army so I'm not going with Empire but I think the releases are pretty nice looking considering they're bringing out some truly old minis as well.

6th edition. Empire vs Orcs. Those are the Empire kits I would've preferred them rerelease.

at least after the Orcs from the same box are now the new old core infantry, there was hope that we get those instead of the 8th Edi stuff

I wonder if there is any hope for the return of the incredibly cool and entirely impractical Skull Observatory - Skullvane Manse?

Totally impractical for any game of WHFB but so, so, cool.

The word manse implies that there are Presbyterians in the old world

Edit: pre-emptive comment that I am making a joke and don't need to know about other definitions of manse

I assume we're not getting the plastic wizards box since they're tired to the College of Magic?
