Yeah, I was hoping to have more done by now, finishing it all before I run out of vacation doesn't seem practical (I'm not going to spend 13 hours a day painting, my eyes will fall out). Seems I got a bit too ambitious. I'll get done what I can get done without killing myself.

Well, there went the weekend visiting family. But I managed to finish off the amazing space axolotl that is the Kroot Lone Spear.



The long gun version is probably inferior to the Blast Javelin, at least for now, but I wanted to build one of each loadout.



Not 100% on the leather jacket but I think it would have looked wrong if it was all orange. I tried out Army Painter's Rust Tone wash over Reaper's Intense Brown.



Note that if you're going to build one of these mud puppies, that the reins are a colossal pain in the butt to put in place if you follow the instructions, because the head goes on first and you have to tuck it under the wriggly head bits.

Since it's the new year, here's an army progress shot. It barely fit into my lightbox.



Unfortunately this was less progress than I intended. I probably should have done 5 Carnivores a day rather than trying for 10 (which takes at least 2 days, sometimes 3), but it's still 56 models. I have 31 models to go, but I'm probably going to poke away at them over the next few months, as I'm just about Krooted out for the moment. I think I should do a couple characters to just round it out and add point density, because right now it's only 565 points of Kroot.

I probably should have done the models for the Kroot Combat Patrol rules (which is a Lone Spear w/ Lance, 2x10 Kroot Carnivores, 2x3 Krootox Rampagers, 1 Krootox Rider), but I really didn't look it up until right now.
