First minis, ever: Grenadier Denizens of the Swamp, all of which are lost to time.

After Hero Quest, the grenadier barbarians were my next hobby steps. Obviously under the influence of the Conan films. Still have them, and added to them substantially an adult, thanks to the moulds surviving Grenadier.

My first after coming back was AoBR.
But the really first I got was this, The Citadel Dungeon Adventurer Starter Set:

The Citadel Dungeon Adventurer Starter Set

It was to go with the D&D 2nd ed Basic set, and GW's cardboard Dungeon Floor Plans sets.

I miss never getting the AoBR box. Some fun minis in there for the time.

My brother and I first started with Hero Quest and Space Crusade. We started WHFB in 3rd edition - I started with dwarfs, and I think my first purchases would have just been some generic dwarf warrior blister packs. I think the first big box we got was the 4th edition starter set, with high elves vs goblins.

My first minis were pewter figurines from Rawcliff Pewter. Meant to sit on shelves & look cool, not for gaming.
First gaming minis were Hero Quest. I painted the heroes with enamels from Testors, straight on, no primer. I did model cars & military aircraft before that, but I didn't know about primers.
Then it was Battlemasters.
A friend had siblings that could drive, and he got random stuff for us to pool together & use. Tyranid Attack, Mighty Warriors, and a box of RTB01 that we split.

My first kit bash was an RTB01 marine with one of the reaper skeletons from HQ. basically split both vertically & mashed together.

Bam, said the lady!

The 40k second edition starter box. I deeply regret trading it all away many years ago for some LOTR models. I spent many hours reading all the little lore blurbs in the rule book and codex. Painted all the space Marines and Orks but only ever got through half the gretchin...

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

The kit that got me back in the hobby wasn't exactly a model kit, but was the old Bandai Mega Armor Zero kit from the Mega Man X series. It's a hybrid model kit/action figure. I quickly got back into my old hobby of gunpla after that and haven't looked back.

My first Warhammer kit was actually a scenery kit that I used for a Gundam diorama. I for the life of me can't remember what it was called, but it's the first image in my thread in my signature. My first kit proper was the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Chaos Warriors kit.

UPDATE: The terrain kit was the Azyrite Ruins.

1990 and first year of high school and it was a clear plastic box of a unit of 10 metal space marines for Rogue Trader.
I cannot find a picture online.

Painted them as Blood Angels (poorly).
