Ha! If Murphy gets too powerful just call it character development and have him take over the gang.
Looking forward to to battle reports.

Very true. I'm looking forward to providing battle-reports to you!

-------------------------------------------------

Happy Friday, Dakka! As promised, a bonanza of pics!

First off, a close-up of Murphy's mask. Based on Army of Two's Salem, whose default mask is called "Custom Ink". And mold-line FAIL...

Next up, Blaise Levet, one of the Red Jackals' "Old Guard". Fluff was a few pages back.

From the back...

And one of his ballistic mask design: central wide-stripes, right-white/left-red.

And finally... a (Grim)Dark Knight rises... starting with his faithful Servo-Skull A1-Fr3D.

Enjoy, and as always, comments/critiques welcome here!

Thanks! It's so-so, nothing too special, but I'm hoping the practice helps me improve on the later-characters' masks! And Mr. Bale is in-progress... I'll post him when I finish. I'd like the Grimdark Knight to be a surprise (hopefully good).

In terms of the dirty leather... I wanted to make either symbols or something that identifies the gang with their name, the Red Jackals. Originally, I thought of symbols (like the SW symbol), but then again, figured dirty red/brown leather coats would do as well. So, coats it is!

Welcome back, brother! I'm holding down the fort for you, but am waiting patiently to see your Inquisitor and/or scenery. My cousin Z and I are going to playtest rules very soon. I'll PM you with details and also blog-direction at a later date.

Thanks PDH! Happy to see you stop by here. I'm hoping the Grimdark Knight (er, the rest of the model) amuses you as much as his servo skull does. Probably need a nickname for him... as I can't see Inquisitor Kain spitting out a model-number when he addresses his servo for orders. Probably jus plain 'Alfred' or 'Butler'.

Anywho, thanks all for stopping by. Business trips this week from tomorrow to Wed night, so I'm gonna slow down til Thursday night, when I can get back to my painting crusade in a proper fashion.

As always, comments + critiques are very welcome here.

The servo skull made me smile.

The masks look great and the coats have a nice "worn out leather" look.

Thanks Igandris! Hopefully the GDark Knight will have an even greater impact.

And thanks for the masks. I've got quite a few more to go, so hopefully I can improve on the intricacy and depth of the designs for the next minis in line.

I'll be getting back to it either tonight or this weekend. Business trip was exhausting...

So... where are the masked gangers?

D'oh!

I'm working on them. 2 weeks away from my hobby desk with the disarrayed formula paints for the colors is not a good start... I'm working on my Plasma Cannon-wielding Aurelio at the moment, and next will be his brother, Constantine.

Aurelio is carrying a particularly large weapon, so I'm thinking of what to put on the side (military number markings, A-10 Warthog "face", etc.) as it has a lot of flat surface to cover. Good news is, I've already got his mask-design in my head. It'll be black, with the skull portion of his mouth (bottom-half/bottom-right) done in gold with some skull components (cheekbones, jawline, etc.) drawn out on the face in the appropriate areas.

Constantine... no thought on the mask yet, but I want his mini-gun to be matte-black.

Stay tuned... this is supposed to be a 3-day holiday in the US (Memorial Day Weekend), but I've been called into work today for manager meetings and other nonsense...

I'll be working again tonight. I'm trying NOT to do PIP pictures anymore. Just start and finish, so please bear with me.

I love the servo skull, I think from now on they should all come with bat wings as standard .

Thank you! At least if you belong to a certain cowled crusader dressed like a large bat...

-------------------------------

Ladies and Gents,

Apologies for the long wait. I've not found better pursuits, but things have been keeping me away from my paint station. A big promotion at work and working on closing on my first house with the missus... hasn't left a lot of time to work on my minis. However, when this is all over... I get my own... MAN CAVE...

I haven't been completely inactive though... here we go.

Constantine has been in-the-works for a few weeks. It pisses me off, but hey... here he is. His mask, as mentioned before, will be highlighted black with the skull portions on the right side of the mask in gold w/ accompanying highlights.

Another one of Inquisitor Argyle's group sighted - Code Named "Kestrel" getting his base coat and ink. These guys go much faster. When I get back, I'm going fullsteam on him first.

I wanted to save this guy for the finish... but it has been too long and I'm excited about presenting this figure and its new base. Caestus Kain... in the works. I'm seriously considering making him almost black-to-white scale... but I'll paint him right. Going black-grey-bone/white-white on his armor, rather than blue/black highlights.

And here it is... I wanted to think of how to make the base without making him unplayable. The final result - almost unplayable. If I had to do it again, I'd make it multi-tiered, and the final result when viewed from above would make... "the symbol".
Spoiler:

As always, comments and critiques welcome. I'll try to get more updates and work done, but it's looking a little bleak right now with work/house-work days running late into the evening...

Thanks! I'm glad you like the base. It was actually a lot larger before, but testing on the scenery... yea... had to cut it down just a bit.

And thanks! My wife and I are looking forward to being home-owners... and I'm looking forward to having a secluded painting space!
