No such luck for me. My compressor was built from a refrigerator compressor twenty years ago. It was a nice ride, but I guess it's time to move on.
sacramentofcarnage wrote:Baiyuan, I know you mentioned in one of your posts that you'd used some of Ben Komets' techniques. If you haven't seen it already he has released a DVD set under the title paintingbuddha. It's great stuff and he goes into detail on his wet blending. If you haven't got it already I highly recommend it.
Hope the project is going well, mate.
Yeah, I'm a premium supporter of painting buddha. Nice product, even though I was glad that I've actually painted with Ben before, because some of the explanations weren't clear enough for me to otherwise fully comprehend. There were a few moments where I thought that a beginner is not really going to get what a certain thing is all about. Still great product and project!
Bruticus wrote:how did your compressor die? My first one was DOA and the guys that sold it to me talked me through a way to repair it. You'll have to excuse the technical jargon here, but maybe this is worth a look:
On the top part thingy that sits above the bottom tank, one side is basically just a wheel turned by a motor, if you open that side up with a screwdriver you can turn the compressor on and check that the wheel is turning. On mine the wheel was turning but the piston arm thingy had detached. They said you can fix this yourself but you need a special strong glue stuff. I sent mine back but I think it was a pretty easy fix if I had needed to do it, and quite common too apparently.
Could actually be the piston being detached. It was working perfectly and didn't make any unusual sound, but suddenly the pressure fell off even though the motor was seemingly working as intended. I turned it on and off a couple times and in some cases it wouldn't do anything, in others it sounded like it worked, but didn't actually pump.

All good, mate! Might be I've already figured out where to get a new one.
Also I've been to Ikea yesterday and finally bought the next batch of boxes to store all my crap in.
My painting tables are all shiny and tidy now.
Also bought another showcase/cabinet that I found at the thrift shop today. I don't know where to put it yet, but it was only 18€ for a 106x80x15cm double door cabinet.
The size of the boards in it is perfect to put a skirmish size group of miniatures on. A sizeable Necromunda gang or an Infinity army should fit onto one or two of those boards.
Also they are really easy to remove an I'll glue some metal foil onto them so that I can use them as trays for the magnetized bases of my miniatures.
It currently only has six boards, but with some of those Ikea metal pins and some wood I should be able to fit in twenty or more.

I'd trade my setup for your terrain building skills.
Also magnets make everything better, just like lasers.

Baiyuan,
Did you manage to finish the surprise for your fiance? And how's the asura coming along?

Yes, I did. I'll take pictures of both when I'm done with the Asura.
...which I haven't worked on recently until last night. So very little progress, but there is a tournament on the 23rd of November and I'm planning to have the Asura done by then.

Hey Baiyuan,
I've been painting up an Aleph force, started with a colour scheme similar to studio, but ended up sacking it and stripping them back. Was really inspired by your Thorakitai and tried the colour schemes that you posted.
I was wondering if you'd be willing to have a look at them and give me some criticism?
Thanks

Thanks mate I really appreciate it. I've just posted my work in progress over in the miniatures section on my blog on the Infinity site and would really like your input.
Like i said on my blog, the paint schemes are yours and I really appreciate you sharing them.
