Sorry, I didn't mean to infer that other countries were better in a general sense. But if you like not being murdered, the countries I mentioned are objectively about five times better (on average). So in this case, I guess opinions are a lot like facts.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that I'm very fond of the USA, and I think American people are great... except when they do crazy stuff like claim the world is 6000 years old, and walk around with loaded guns in their handbags, and bullets mixed up with their lipsticks... Some of that stuff is really err "out there".

I think that, when discussing crime of any type, we have to look at the economic factors. We generally know that economic despair causes people to commit criminal acts.

Perhaps, if we were to take a look at poverty rates per 100k in each country, that would shine a bit better light on the "Why" factor.

In the sence of gun control, law inforcement and racisal standings yes. To many die from guns there and it is not right, you only need long rifles for hunting so thats all that should be legal. The law inforcement is trained to treat all people as threats due to everyone packing glocks. And as for race problems... Oh my.... Lol blacks blame whites for eveything half of whites hate whites, whites hate mexicans, some whites hate black. Semms like everyone wants to kill everyone over there.

I am on a tablet with french enabled lol, it auto spell checking like crazy and really confusing.

That matters why?

We don't even crack the top 100 countries in murder rate. Violent crime in the US isn't a major problem. It happens, it's criminal behavior, we deal with it. It is by no means an epidemic or crisis.

Let's not get too derailed by the spelling guys. Having said that, it is a requirement of the forums to make a solid effort to spell correctly and use proper grammar. Perhaps a change in keyboard/briefly disabling French/some other solution is best. This requirement is in place because it is polite to the users you are conversing with to provide them with well spelt, grammatically accurate (or near enough) posts. Posts filled with spelling errors are a chore to read, and especially here in the OT can lead to misunderstandings that will drag a thread well off topic.

Naw mate I just know there is never credit given where it is due from certain people. From the materiel used to build the ship to the fuel, you would never have made it off the ground with out many other countries. Also why bother going to the moon for a pissing contest? Kinda childish when you could of spent the money to build homes for the homeless or food to the hungry rather then billions to say see that rock I walked on it, Then see that homeless guy I killed him to do it .

There are some pretty fethin small guns that do exist, so it is possible to hide one under a kitchen towel, though that is besides the point.

The man has a right to own a towel, regardless of size and it isn't subject to anyone else's perception of need.

It would be interesting to know what exactly made the officer believe the man had a gun. It's a far stretch from having a hand that is obscured or holding an indeterminiate object to being confident enough that it's a pistol/weapon to justify a lethal response.

According to the update story I posted a link to yesterday, it wasn't even a towel. And there were witnesses (drivers/passengers of stopped cars) so hopefully the real story will come out.
