Thanks for the comments guys!
And Gallagad for the unit recommendations. I love the look of the Clegane Brigands so will probably get those (and should look good alongside the Mountain Men you get in the big box).
Warboss - yes the dire wolf on the shield is embossed, not a decal, so quite easy to paint.

Yes, the Clegane Brigands are a good looking unit.
I even told you the wrong unit name Lol! I really messed that post up.
If you are looking to double up on a bunch of Lannister units you already have (no good reason to for the game), the standalone Lannister starter includes the Brigands fwiw. I got the starter for the additional sculpts for the Lannister Guard, which I really like.

Picked up a few more singles and definitely no disappointment this time either. Greatjon Umber (specifically the old starter set version with him swinging the massive sword) makes for a great RPG fig potentially and I hope to add a space wolf shield to his back as a bit more detail fluorish for the purpose. I know he can't use it with a zweihander but it's a good use of a wolf embossed shield for such an impressive figure.

Gallahad - thanks for the tip on the Lannister starter set! Would be nice to mix in a few different sculpts. I can always sell the duplicates of characters I don't use I guess? (Not sure what the used market is like).

I can't speak to the UK/EU but there are a couple of ebay sellers here in the US that seem to make a living in part by selling singles. Regular figs seem to run about $2-6 USD for infantry and $8-10 for cavalry with heroes running about $5-15 (plus shipping).

I've been away from the forum but healing up and hopefully getting back to work this or next year.
Also trying to deal with procastrination to get Asoiaf on the table.

Very minor update as I had mostly put my hobby to the side a couple months back. I don't know if it just took time for the chemical reaction or if the extra heat from summer temperatures contributed to it but every single one of my primed (but still unpainted) ASOIAF minis is very sticky to the touch to the point that just pressing my finger lightly against a surface lets me pick up the models slowly without them falling down. :(

Yeah, I was hoping that somehow I had magically avoided the "don't prime these models" problem with my choice of primer based on a youtube video but it seems like it just took a while for the reaction to take place. No idea if painting it over with hobby acrylic paints will "fix" it or if ithe reaction will affect the painting process as well.

I went in pretty big with the gamefound ASOIAF Tactics game. Getting 1 of everything, I think. Including the big ass dragon.
Been heavy into ASOIAF fiction for the past few years and want to paint up some of the "historical" figures. Just finished Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and looking forward to slapping some paint on Bloodraven, Duncan the Tall and Egg.
Might even finally play the game when it arrives.

I'm happy that there's some activity here.
Shame about your models, warboss, I hope things sort themselves out regarding this. :(
I agree with nels1031[DCM] that "Tactics" does look pretty cool and even more so if we're going to be able to run historical Asoiaf scenarios and army lists and such through it. I haven't dived into the details of it yet, though.

Thanks. Eventually, I do hope to test paint one of them and see if acrylic paint stays put on this sticky (to the touch) surface. I've seen some army lots on ebay back when I was looking complaining/mentioning the same but had hoped I avoided it. I won't be rebuying the same figures (especially since I minimally to moderately converted most for RPG purposes) so hopefully it works. In the future when I pick up some of the new era/kickstarter figures as singles, I'll just paint the plastic directly instead of priming.
