After picking up IA 8 I wanted to try kit-bashing a Mega-Dred that was more in the style of Stompas/kans/dreds.

Here is the start:





Still very WIP as I need to do some more detailing, cover up some remaining gaps in the seams, add hydrolics/hoses to CC arm, add some bullet/shell impact marks, add some exhaust stacks and boss pole, etc. but the basic idea is here, and I was curious to get some C&C thus far.

Note: the feet seen here are "place holders" so it will stand until I figure out How I want to model them...

Very cool. Cant wait to see this finished. The look of the weapons and that Cyclopean eye are great.

That looks like one of the old Armorcast Small Stompas.

Cool. But isnt it more expensive to kitbash a stompa into a mega dread, than just using a mega dread? Just a thought.

1. I am not a fan of the "new look" that FW/GW has gone with the dreds and kans, it seems too spiky, humanoid and "chaosified" imho.

2. I like the more old-school look for Ork walkers.

3. Stompa parts can be picked up rather cheaply from bits sellers, ebay, etc.

Looking great, you really need to bulk up the underside of the chainsaw arm a bit with hydraulics and other stuff, it kind of looks like it's just held on with sheet metal.

I love this. Just ork it up a bit, Like you said bosspole, exhaust then throw on some random pipes and what not.

This is most orky, although it still needs more dakka. Where did that big gun in his chest come from?

Where orks get most things I'd assume - the Imperium.

It has the dakka it is allowed to field:

kill kannon, skorcha and two big shootas...
