Back in 4th edition winged tyranid warriors were pretty abysmal and did not have any real place on the battlefield but I really liked the concept of them. With their new codex many people still consider them suboptimal, but I really like the idea of these flying terrors and they're a great answer to other elite units.

That said, I decided to make a trio of my own! I'd rather field a unit of four instead of three, but the Forgeworld Wings and these eBay boneswords are sold in packs of three. I didn't want to invest too much into this little project so I'll be fielding a unit of three for a while.

I only have one built thus far and I may need to re-upload the photos, I think Dakka's auto-correct made it a bit too yellow.

Edit: Wow, the swords look like they're glowing! Neat effect and all, but not very good for seeing the detail on them. I'll post up new photos once I get him primed gray so details will be easier to pick out on the swords.

You and me both! That's only one of the three shot from a couple of angles. The other two will be in different poses. One likely in a swooping downward motion and not too sure of the other. Maybe diving in with the talons?

I was also unsure if I wanted to have these guys with two sets of arms, a set of legs, and then the wings coming from their backs. I know many Tyranid "purists" demand that 'nids only have six limbs but I've never really felt this was an absolute. I do rather like the idea of them being purely airborne creatures like the larger harridan and harpy, though.
