I am trying to paint my power weapons red and im having a hard time figuring out how to do it. i tried scab red, then gore red watered down and then dry brushed blazing orange and skull white. it came out ok but not how i wanted it. im trying for a deep red for a base that gets lighter towards the edge and tip of the blade. any suggestions before i butcher my army?

Perhaps post some pictures and specify what you're looking. We can't help unless you give us something to go off of.

Nothing currently, got out of the hobby, maybe getting back in?

You can base it black, dry brush heavily a red most of the way down the blade, perhaps leaving around the hilt or base of the blade black. Then gradually drybrush on an orange, followed by a yellow and/or white on the tip and around the very edges.

This discussion is absurd. The mental gymnastics on display here are appalling. The combat familiar gives the DP two attacks with a specific profile. The special rule modifies the DP's attacks, no matter how it got those attacks. The CF's attacks are at AP 2. Anything else is stupid.

Paint it as a normal metal and exaggerate the highlights. Glaze with red ink or red wash.

Practice on something like sprue pieces before you butcher your army.

If you have an airbrush, sub out the blue for red and you are golden.
