I'll be useing this list in August's statewide tournament in Augusta. Tell me what you think. By the way this is a Mid-War list.

HQ
2xChurchill III's, 1ic and 2ic
2xChurchill I's

Comabat:
3xChurchill III's
3xChurchill III's

Support:
Air support: limited; Hawker Hurricanes with bombs and cannons.
6x Universal Carriers, 2xhull mg
Infantry Platton, 2 squads, boyz anti tank rifle

Thats all there is hopefully I'll have a nice strong showing. Should be a pretty hard list to contain. I fear large AA emplacemtn such as 88's, Italian 90's, and of course the 3" brit guns. My tactics are simple, divide and conquer. Seeing as how it's only 5 platoons it on't be hard to kae me below halve strength but Im counting on the Churchill's thick hide to keep them in the fight. Ill just dig in my Infanty on the objective and hope for the best. Ill use my carriers to hunt down enemy infantry and gun's that are too worried about the churchill's.

Not a bad little force and those Churchills are going to be a beast to contain. I think your biggest drawback is going to be going up against a good defensive german army which there are many of. The pther thing that I just noticed is no AAA, that may cause you to get wrecked by aircover yourself.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

Outside of Dieppe the Mark I saw no combat service. It was only operationally used to support the Canadian landings. Its poor performance there led to the replacement of the 2-Pounder and almost the whole project being cancelled.

It certainly never saw action alongside the MKIII...

Just wondering how you can have them both in the same army?

Thats not quite true Big P. There were a small number who found their way to Tunisia and survived to take part in fighting on the Gothic Line in Italy.

Really?

Got any pics of that cos I aint ever seen a MKI outside of Dieppe in its original configuration.

The MKII deleted the 3" howitzer and replaced the 2-Pounder with a 6-Pounder.

The MKII is sometimes reffered to as the Churchill Ia which is I suspect the vehicle you have seen mentioned. It was however a different tank entirely to the poor MKI with a better gun, uparmoured and with a more reliable engine.

But I would be interested to know any different!

No its Mk1s Im talking about.

There is quite a well know picture taken on "Longstop hill" during fighting for Tunis. It shows a MK1 (and yes I do know the difference) and a MK111 belonging to the North Irish Horse.

I'll see if I can find an internet version of it.

Here we go:

This is the same Tank in both shots. Belonging to "B" Squadron of the North Irish Horse and called "Bushmills" all "B" sqaudron vehicles having a name begining with B.

The NIH were given 6 Mk1s, two per squadron. They wernt very happy about it but grew rather fond of them. Alongside them were Mk111s and NA75's, so they had a real mixture.

Infantry tank co. can only have air support or anti air, dont forget I can use the hurricanes to intercept incomeing bombers. Also with the HQ I can add two churchill one's and seeing how their howitzers can pop smoke thats exactly what they'll be doing, that and pining down enemy artillery and infantry. I wont be afraid to assault with my tanks either for that matter when it comes to infantry. I also play a mid-war defensive german list and I know their weakness's. If they have 88's ill hit em with smoke from my mk1's, as for anti tank guns I can take hits from pak 40's and intend to nuetralize these threats as soon as they appear. I know that at our tournemnt comeing up there will be a 8th army infantry co. with deacons, shermans and matildas. A falshimjager co. with sutgs, two tigers, and some wespes. Soviet tankovy company with tons of T-34's and KV1's. US tank co. more shermans then I care to mention. US airborne co. with anti tank guns, AAA, some shermans. Finally a German Panzer co. sporting mostly mk 3's L's, M's, and N's. It should be interesting and the tournament is scehduled for August 8th. Ill also be giving this list two dry runs, one at a torunament in Savanha, that is if I decide not to use my Italians, and against another Panzer CO. that is Eastern Front. Any way I go about it it's gonna be good times, thnx for the advice by the way.

Superb stuff.... How could I have forgotten Longstop Hill!

I stand corrected... Blame the fading grey matter.

Cracking stuff mate, and finally a reason for me to use my MKIs!

Thanks.
