Hello,

Up for critique are two of the many 1750 lists I have created. Please read through and let me know what can be improved. Be cruel, but not too cruel. These are fun lists. I am not sure how competitive they would be.

I used the first list against an armored IG army and handled them quite easily. The game ended up being a kill point game. One obvious drawback is the lack of troops, though the tervigon is, in my experience, hit or miss for spawning termagants. Worst case, I would have 3 separate troop units to hold objectives. This army is mostly T6 and fairly resilient. My battle plan was to control the center area with hive guard / zonethropes (once they became available). Advance tyrant squads / tervigon to control enemy movement. Hold termagant unit in reserve so they live and make sure they come out near synapse range. Trygon prime adds a no scatter zonethrope spore via the tunnel.

List #1

HQ
1x Hive Tyrants, ST, LE, Paroxysm
3x Tyrant Guard
350 pts

I used the second list against a heavy terminator SM army and the battle ended up in a tie. The game ended up being an objective game with 4 objectives. Once again, the obvious drawback is the lack of troops. I banked on the tervigon to doo doo termagants and hold objectives down. The center of the battle field was a vortex (i could not get within 6" or i was destroyed), which jacked up the battle plan a bit. Most of this army starts in reserve. I planted the / tervigon / hive guard / biovore in cover with an objective. The tyranid prime and lictor are used as spotters for the mawloc to pwn with no scatter worries or the zonethrope spore to be more accurate. Mawloc's have never really worked for me. I keep trying them and keep getting disppointed. Use of hit and run / burrow can keep them off the board, but they you only get to use them for 2+ rounds. I am probably using them wrong. They seem to die quickly for me. The parasite of mortrex / shrike unit is one of my favorites. It's squishy, but is fast and deadly vs MEQ (reroll failed hit rolls of 1 and reroll to wound vs T4 or lower). I kept the flyrant in reserve, because they seem to draw a lot of attention (which mine did, once he came in and was killed in two rounds :( ). The biovore is fairly menacing with wandering spore mines.

list 1.

Your HQ are costing just under half your army points. I'd ditch a few guard.

I've found double hive guard work better against transports because they can keep at range. Zoanthropes are better against tough stuff.

Not a lot of troops and the trygon is all lonely.

list 2:

Drop the lictor as it's not that good.

Gargoyles for shirke cover would be nice here.

I don't think you need a trygon prime as you have enough synapse. I'd make that mawloc another trygon from the points left and invest the biovore points into a bigger termagant unit.

Hi, just a question.

Can you please explaine me this?

Do you mean that you'll land one Spod, with Zoanthropes in, down on earth close to one tunnel assuming that this will allow you to alwais hit without deviation? I really can't see how can you do something like this..

If I'm not wrong only Infantry units can use the tunnels as "entry point", Spod are MC and Zoans are Elite choices.

Yeah, I goofed on that one. You are correct. I re-read the rule and it clearly states "infantry" can use the tunnel.
