Has anyone played it? How is the game? How are the models? How big are the models? How does the game play?

All the worlds a joke and the people merely punchlines

I would say the models are about 15 mil. The game play is pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of how terrain does not play much of a part in the game, but the game handles attrition better than any game system I know of. The models are nice but not as detailed as the typical war gamer is accustomed to. The coolest feature is the ability to make up unit designs online, and then have them be tournament legal. Its very inexpensive, so I would say its a good backup ttwg. My favorite thing is how units loose effectiveness and options as they loose soldiers. My least favorite is that attackers die in combat as often as defenders. Realistic, but in my experience has set up for more defensive games.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I never got past the basing and visuals. Not for me.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

The Models seem to be a bit nebulous on scale. I would put most of them at 20mm.

It is an interesting ruleset. I like the decisions you need to make to get abilities to go off on units.
Rearranging a unit can make it have a different focus.

The mechanics of the rules are really very good.
The opposing dice is neat.

The opposing dice is the one thing I don't like. The look is ok with me. Its not a classic ttwg, but if you don't try to shoe horn it into that role you can enjoy it.

I like the opposing, because I don't feel completely at the mercy of one side's dice rolls.
It may not be logical, but it feels like you have more control.

I really like how you can move around on the card/base to make the unit faster/slower, etc.

The card for the Testudo really illustrates the concept well.

When you are improving the armor, the figures clump and it gives the impression of the testudo.

Granted, there are only 10 figures, but it gives the feel.

Guess I don't like it because I'm at the mercy of my poor rolling abillities twice as much.

Its a neat mechanic, and probly more realistic, but it frustrates me.

I have watched several games and it seemed to be very extremely one sided with missile weapons dominating massively. But that might have been bad army composition - the game may suffer from the "I own better figures than you as I have spent more money (or more wisely) like Magic" but can't say for sure.

some nice imagery though

If you buy the case of boosters for about $90, you get everything for one faction. As far as CMG go, that isn't bad.
Also, you can buy a pack with all of one faction's stuff from the starter for $15.

I think they may have just had lop-sided luck and bad army comp.

When I played, it was all I could do to put damage on a Testudo.

Were they getting defensive dice?
IIRC, you still get the dice vs shooting, but the shooters cannot take casualties.
That alone could swing the balance vs shooting

Most likely bad army comp. The price point is so low for this game that its hard to imagine buying a victory.
