Dark Angels Librarian with Book of Secrets

I have read the Dark Angels codex until my head hurt, and I'm still hazy about the Deathwing and the Deathwing assault rule. Apparently, the 15 extra points required to field them is mostly due to this ability. Now, I understand that you can take up to half of the DW squads fielded and deploy them via Deep Strike on turn 1... great! However, last night I was countered by another DA player who told me that DWA happens without error: no scatter, no mishap, BOOM, here you go! I'm pretty sure you still roll the mishaps and scatter.
Is this pretty much why we pay 15 points? 1st turn reserves? and am I reading it correctly?
PS: please don;t make this an anti- DA flame war, I heard enough people bitching at me for playing DA all day at 'Ard Boyz. I play Dark Angels, screw everyone else!

They deepstrike in like normal.
I use to play DA, now when I play marines I play a chapter that's colors bear a suspicious resemblance to Dark Angels.

First of all, the 15 points are for multiple things. Fearless, DWA, the ability to mix weapon load outs and the ability to be scoring. Its not that much to pay when you realize your abusing wound allocation on scoring fearless terminators! I play Deathwing and happen to like it. You roll to scatter as normal, your opponent is silly.

yup, half your termi squads come in on turn 1 (rounded up) and the rule extends to IC's in terminator armor who join them. they don't, however, get any more accurate deepstriking than the normal rules (they still roll 2d6 and the scatter die). you can sort of get around that by using ravenwing bikers who deploy forward and scout 12" (they can't turboboost alas) and then deploy within 6" of them to not scatter. you are also fearless and can mix/match weapons but their wound allocation is completely normal. the "abusing" of wound allocation is only for units made completely of multiple wound models and different wargear; terminator squads are all one wound so they allocate just like every other squad. also, you don't pay for scoring terminators in the squad price but in the price you pay for belial, the most craptacular captain a marine company has ever seen (somehow he forgot his iron halo that every other 4th edition on captain gets at home!).

I played against a DWA army last night - we were unclear about drop pods (he had 3 squads of Terms (one in a LR) 2 Deepstrikers and a Dread/Pod)Does the pod come in turn 1?
He used his bikes just like you suggest.

the pod's rules are separate from the DW rules and they don't interfere with each other. i don't see anything in the DA codex about the drop pods coming in on turn 1; it may only be a 5th edition codex thing.

DA pods do not have Drop Pod Assault.
If you want your termies to be safe, take some Ravenwing Bikers!
