Bounding Ultramarine Assault Trooper

So, with a new LGS opening up, I thought it'd be fun to throw a list together and play on opening day (along with eating cake), so here it is. Enjoy.

HQ: Sicarius 200

Troops:

Tac Squad 230
+5 Marines
PC, PG
Rhino
SB

Tac Squad 220
+5 Marines
PC, PG, PP
Rhino

Tac Squad 170
+5 Marines
Flamer HB

Tac Squad 180
+5 Marines
Flamer Laz

Elites 325
Stern Guard
+5 bodies
10 Combi-Melta
PF

Ven. Dread 205
AssCan HF
Pod
Deathwind

Fast:
Assault Squad 253
+5 Marines
PW
2 PP

Attack Bikes
2 melta guns
PW

The game plan is to use Sicarious to give the stern guards infiltrate. They go within minimum distance and in cover of the enemy and take shots at anything that comes near their bubble of doom. The pod is to hit the enemy deployment Zone and start causing havoc with it's cargo and launcher. The Plasma squads I want on mid field objectives on turn two and then pilbox with the Plasma weapons. Last two tac squads and home objective holders/body guards for Sicarious who I don't want in the field alone.
The fast attack elements are for counter assault, tar pitting and tank hunting. If needed I'll give the assault squad Counter charge. Well, that's it and thanks for looking/destroying.

Most of this list is good, except all of the tac squads should be in Rhinos (better protection), and you should probably give the Sturnguard a drop pod.
Then you should downgrade the ven. dred to a normal one (too many points spent on a suicide unit).

The game plan is to use Sicarious to give the stern guards infiltrate

Sicarious can only give those abilites to tac squads.

And that is pretty much all that I would change.

Armies so far: W/L/D
1250pts. 1/1/2
2500pts. 3/4/2

Ahh thanks didn't read the tac squad part..Also I don't have the extra Rhino's/pods or yes, I would have them in the list. I do have a pair of PRCs I could prolly squeeze in.

I'm not a big fan of playing SM with Rhinos, I tend to play dread heavy, but enough about me.

I would recomend droping the HB in the tac squad, they arent really worth it in my opinon, take a missle launcher or something.

You should try and work a flamer into the assult squad 18" effective assult range + flamer =win.

I'd suggest replacing the venerable dread with an ironcald, and upgrade the storm bolter to a heavy flamer, then you'll get 13 front and side armor, a melta, a heavy flamer, and two cc weapons one of which is a seismic hammer. And all for less points then the venerable.

Nice list though, it should be fun to play.

your list is extremely hard to read, and thus hard for me to critique. I took the liberty of re-formatting your list, as to make more sense.

HQ: Sicarius - 200 pts

Elites: 10 man sternguard unit (10x combi-melta), power fist- 325 pts
Elites: Venerable Dreadnought (AC+HF) in pod (DW) - 205 pts

Troops: 10 man tac squad (plasma gun, plasma cannon) in rhino (storm bolter) - 230 pts
Troops: 10 man tac squad (plasma gun, plasma cannon, plasma pistol) in rhino - 235 pts
Troops: 10 man tac squad (flamer, heavy bolter) - 170 pts
Troops: 10 man tac squad (flamer, lascannon) - 180 pts

Fast: Biker squad (2x melta guns + power sword) - unknown points value
Fast: 10 man assault squad (2x plasma pistol, power sword) - 235 pts

much easier to take in all at once now, and consider it as a whole. I see 3 major problems with the list. The sternguard unit needs a rhino... otherwise its never going to get in melta range of an opponent who knows what he's doing. The 2 tac squads without rhinos are going to be fairly useless... I'd either find points to get them rhinos, or give the LC one a Plasma Gun, so you can use sicarius to give it tank hunters, and you get a str8 and str10 ranged gun from a static positioned squad. The 3rd problem is that you lack anti-tank, outside of the sternguard, who currently don't have a rhino. The bikers are not reliable anti-tank, and will die quickly against most mechanized opponents. Try to work in some predators with lascannon sponsons, some land speeder typhoons, a land raider, some terminators with cyclone launchers, or more dreadnoughts with ranged weaponry to fix this.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

Sicarius doesn't add anything to the army and just costs a bucket of points.

Troops are all fine.

Venerable dreadnought is over costed for what it does and the only pod in the army. I'd drop this and double up on the assault squad giving you multiple targets as your assault squad can be taken out pretty easily.

Bikers are fine as anti tank as they can turbo boost getting a 3+ cover save and pretty tough as well.

Putting all Tac squads in transports is a waste of points IMO. better to move them in and out of cover and trust in their armour more than trying to put them in AV 11 boxes.

Sicarius......wow you can nominate one of your tac squads as a tank hunter etc. big deal.
Save yourself some points and take a normal captain instead. or a Librarian.

I prefer Honersstondt's list with only the two Rhinos (if you're going to take Rhinos)

If you're going to take an assault squad though make it really worth their while and have a Chaplain lead them.

Lost in the warp while searching for a new codex

Because we all know how moving 6" > 12" and not taking damage from str 3 & 4 weapons is not worth 35pts...

I would drop one tactical squad and the Ven upgrade on the Dread then downgrade Sicarius to a Libby and take another Sternguard squad and get transports for all units. Use the rest of the pts for more bikes or something.

Personally dont think that assault marines are worth it but...

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

At 35 points, its a waist not To put them in rhinos,It protects them from small arm fire and can take them for 6 to 12 inches per turn, which doubles there movement. Also, sicarius is a waste of point, take a chaplin or a captian instead.

OK I'll say this. Putting ALL your tac squads in transports is a waste of points. half and half is a nice balance.

Captains are nice if you put them with an assault squad.......chaplains are better
