Here's my 2000 point non-1000 sons Tzeentch army. Meant to be take all comers. All comments and critique welcome for competitiveness and fluffiness.

HQ

Chaos Lord
Terminator armor
Mark of Tzeentch
Daemon Weapon
Combi-Melta

Deep strikes in with termicide squad to add offense and longevity with Daemon Weapon. Looks cool.

ELITES

3x Chaos Terminators
3 combi-meltas

standard termicide squad. I hope for an early tank kill by homing in on the Chosen's banners early. After that, the Lord provides most of the offense with the Deathscreamer.

8x Chosen
Chosen Champion
Icon of Chaos Glory
4x Plasma Guns

7x Chosen
Chosen Champion
Icon of Chaos Glory
4x Plasma Guns

The Chosen infiltrate, not outflank, except in Dawn of War. Their roles are multiple- take heat off the rest of the army, alpha strike vehicles side armor with infiltrate, provide cheap fodder for summoned greater daemon, and aggressive teleporter beacon for termicide

TROOPS

10x Chaos Space Marines
Aspiring Champion with Power Fist
2x Meltaguns
Icon of Tzeentch
Rhino with Combi-melta

a pricey squad, but they can do whatever needs to be done (I hope)

10x Chaos Space Marines
2x Plasma Guns
Rhino with combi-melta

a more basic objective taking unit.

6x noise marines
1 Blastmaster

a "babysitting" unit for an objective in my deployment zone. Their fearlessness means that they'll never run off the objective, while the Blastmaster can still provide some offense. Fluffwise, I've painted them differently from my red and blue Scourged paint scheme, and I figure they're a splinter from a different warband. Slaanesh gets along with Tzeentch pretty well.

HEAVY SUPPORT

2X Defilers
2 extra close combat weapons

helps with crowd control via pie plates and surprising melee range. I sometimes have one hang around my Noise Marines if I suspect any deepstriking funny business

3x Obliterators

we all know what Obliterators are for.

Summoned Greater Daemon

If he comes in at the right time, this guy could be looking at a 2nd turn assault off of a Chosen Champion

Comment! Thank you!

Have you considered a lord with MoK and lightning claws?

Chosen are on foot and will probably get mauled the following turn.

The lightning claw lord is better in melee, but doesn't shoot. Without any shooting, the terminator squad could just be ignored.

I know they'll get mauled. I'm hoping they can earn some of their points back before then, and at least one champ can survive to place my Greater Daemon and terminators. I wonder how feasible lesser daemons could be...

Don't the chaos terminators have bolters? What gun does the lord have a bolt pistol? If so a pistol or even a bolter isn't that much of a loss.

Deathscreamer (tzeentch daemon weapon) spits out d6 str4 ap3 shots per shooting phase, assault 24". If he rolls a 1, though, his weapon bites him, he gets 0 shots and has to pass an invul save or take a wound. This is way better than a bolt pistol, obviously. Without the Deathscreamer, the terminator unit could be completely ignored after the meltagun shots are gone.

Mathhammer tells us that the Tzeentch lord with Daemon Weapon should kill 2.2 marines in an assault, and 1.4 marines in shooting. The lightning claw Khorne lord kills 3 marines in an assault. This includes the chances to roll 1s with Deathscreamer. So, the Tzeentch lord is a little more killy, but can fluff his attacks and stab himself sometimes. The thing I don't like about the lightning claw lord is that if the opponant stays out of assault range, he does nothing. The Tzeentch lord also has a better invul. The Khorne lord is 15 points cheaper, I believe.

Any other comments on the list? Enough troops? Chosen a stupid idea?

I think the MoT is kinda a waste on the CSM squad, besides that I think its just kinda a waste in general. They're going to be up close, at least I assume so with the Melta Guns, and that 5++ is going to do what? This is just personal taste. Save the points and give them MoS or MoK, or beef up the Termies.

I used to use the "Hugs not Drugs" defiler, but now I always run them w/ one Extra DCCW and a RAC, just because we all know that the BC is always the first weapon to be destroyed. Then what happens when you get immobilized? It would also give you some more long range fire power, which right now consists of 2 BCs and 3 Oblits.

As for the Chosen, if they work for you than all the more power to you. I've only used them once or twice fairly well. I've noticed they really need a transport, which means that they should really be outflanking. For their points you could really beef up your troops selections, which is never a bad idea to concider.

Anyways, hope some of this helped.

REPENT for tommorrow you DIE!!!!

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

Interesting info. Thing is that daemon weapon can stop you from shooting while a lord geared for c.c might still be able to shoot with the correct load out.

Rest of the list is ok. Not massive keen on the chosen because when they come in they count as moving so range is only 12" rapid fire, I'd rather take cheaper meltas and get the single D6 pen because lets face it meltas will penetrate most side armour which is anything between 10-12. The unit could cost a lot cheaper too and you've got AP1, better for tank busting
