In your head, screwing with your thoughts...

Didn't want to hijack my other thread, and this should probably have its own thread anyway. So I found out that there's a Warmachine module for Vassal, and unlike the 40k one, this one is still legal. Just wondering if any of you ever use it. (and if someone wanted to perhaps give me a demo game, they could shoot me a pm... )

I just started it recently, and I find that its great. Were you looking for a demo on the game, or just the vassal-ization of it? I might be able to do the vassal thing, but I chose to play Hordes so not knowledgeable about the Warmachine side all that much. I'm still new to both the game and vassal, but its not very hard to get the hang of how the vassal stuff works.

I go by Blues, usually, and I'd be glad to play with you if I'm on. I've found that the people on there (that I've played so far) are very nice.

Well I meant specifically on Vassal, as unless you live in the Twin Cities it would be pretty hard to demo IRL... I will see if I can get someone at my FLGS to give me a demo on Friday though.

Yeah, I didn't really mean in real life. I was just unsure as to whether you have played the game and were wondering how to use vassal, or haven't played the game in general. As I said, I'm just a recent starter, and for Hordes at that, so I'm not the ideal person to demo Warmachine.

You might be able to find someone if you ask around a little on the vassal, but it took me 2 or 3 tries to get someone to do it. FLGS seems to be a great idea, though.

I played a demo with someone on Vassal, unfortunately the server went down so we still haven't finished it... I still haven't heard from anyone else in this thread other than you, Rev, so I must assume nobody else on Dakka uses Vassal for WARMACHINE. (if you do happen to use it I go by MasterDRD there too, or you could pm me if I'm on...)

I use it with my friends frequently. It's great if you're trying to get used to the rules of that shiny new unit before you make a purchase.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Played my 2nd game ever today, also on Vassal. 25 points. My list was Venethrax, 2 Defilers, Slayer, Seether, 6 Bane Knights. My opponent was Skorne, and he had Xerxis, Bronzeback, Savage, Shaman, and either 3 or 4 Cetrati. (note: I have only the foggiest idea what that all means, having no foreknowledge of Skorne or of Hordes in general.) Originally it was WM vs WM, but he wanted to play Hordes instead, so I took out Deneghra and subbed in my buddy ANTHRAX (Venethrax) (as well as a few other units that were out of place vs Hordes) The game went very well up until the end, when I moved Anthrax in to attack his Savage instead of his almost dead Shaman. I instakilled the Savage, but then his Xerxis used Smite on my slayer, knocking it down and also throwing it into Venethrax and knocking him down. Then he made 1 swipe at 'thrax with Xerxis (damn reach) and, because Venethrax was knocked down, his mindcrippled Bronzeback (instead of rolling just 1d6 to hit for all his attacks) autohit and bashed Anthrax's skull apart. If I had gone after the Shaman instead of overextending myself and killing the Savage, Xerxis wouldn't have been able to knock my Slayer into my caster, thus knocking him down. (if I had known Xerxis could do this, I certainly wouldn't have moved Venethrax so close.) Also, if my Seether hadn't missed his 1st fist (I only needed to roll a 4 on 2d6! Jeesus!!!) I would have hit with fist 2, smash+grab=Headbutt, knocking the bronzeback down, and then my 3 bought fist attacks and 1 tusk attack would have autohit and shredded his bronzeback apart, thus removing the model that would kill me in the next turn. Either of those 2 turning points individually would not have kept me from winning, but in combination they proved deadly. In either case, I had a clear jack advantage and would have ripped Xerxis a new bunghole. Of course, as one watcher said, "Knowing is 75% of the game."

But alas, I can claim noobhood to ease the pangs of defeat; after all, it was only my 2nd game ever...

After playing 40k on vassal a ton and finding out that theres vassal for warmachine and hordes is pretty awesome. Definitely enjoying it so far, if anyone is unsure where to get the module for it just search "warmachine hordes vassal" in google and you got it.

It's called Alexia-syndrome on the warmachine boards

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Still better than the 2+ year old necro of the Vassal 40 mod in discussions.

A month old post in this forum is still on the second page. Not really a necro. I was just updating the thread with information to help people who are interested. If you are really that annoyed I guess I could make a brand new thread just for you!

I still sometimes play, shoot me a P.M. and I'd be happy to get a game in whenever possible.
