Hi all,

A new Avatar of War is ready to join the fight! The Ogre Hero!

I really hope you like it!

I've never been entirely sold on the style of GW's Ogres, but that aside this is a cracking sculpt.

Paintjob's not too shabby either.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Avatars of War does some fine work, I'll give them that.

Eh, this is the first time I've been anything less than totally floored by AoW. Aside from the (rather awe-inspiring) gutplate, the model just seems rather bland. There was a lot more interesting decoration in the concept art, and the face seemed to lose something in translation. Also, I can't tell if it's the sculpt or the paintjob, but the veins just seem to be kind of stuck on randomly.

Ah well. I was still planning on buying the Troll Slayer and Ork hero tomorrow anyway (*cough* when I get paid).

That is awesome.

I need to buy some of these for characters.

Now they need some lizardmen models.

I'm going to concur here.. AoW usually has some exquisitely sculpted detail, but this fellow seems to be a bit lacking around the top half.

are there any other optional bitz besides the alternative hand?

Ah, I notice this model wasn't sculpted by Felix (who does most of their figures), but rather by Marc Iglesias. Checking out their site, he's the guy who did one of the Orc heros, which was an awesome mini. I dunno, this one just isn't doing it for me. Like Kryppers said, the upper half seems phoned in.

Yeah but its still miles ahead of the GW ogres...

Not their best but then we expect such high standards now
Still pretty decent, but the veins and scars look odd (maybe due to the paint job)

The lack of dynamism in the pose is giving it that early GW lateral axis pose vibe, which I am not a fan of.
Might be because his biceps are so pumped with arms extended, he can't acually bend his arms at the elbow and his belly protector means he can twist his body.

In fact he can't walk coz the tusks get in the way! Poor sod is stuck like that. At least he can relieve himself through the armour's mouth!

Looks like it could be a GW Ogre so a 'Meh' from me for this effort.

Maybe the paint job is letting this down?

Really liking this model... perhaps with a head swap and some greenstuff/bits, I may be looking at a future ork warlord conversion for my army.

The head seems very copy and paste from the GW ogres, other than that a great model

Very weird.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

Really nice, tbh I'd love them to take that ability and rustle up some new Maneater ideas.

Maybe I should suggest that female Ogre who got to Naggaroth and realised she always wanted to be a Witch Elf.
