Okay...so, I have bought a bunch of used models, stripped them, and am in the process of repainting them. There is a couple of Legion of the Damned figs in with them. Now, I did some research on the LoD, because at first I was really psyched about them. Once I saw what their color scheme is supposed to look like, I got less excited. Then, when I read their background, I decided that I don't like them whatsoever.

So...if I do a little bit of converting, (like, cutting off the chainsword and replacing it with a bludgeoning weapon) can I use the LoD sergeant as a Chaplain? He's already covered in skulls and flames and whatnot.

Second question, in regards to paintschemes...do I have to paint my chaplains black? Or can they be any color I want them to be? Also, can a crozius arcanum look like anything I want it to look like (so long as it is obviously a unique bludgeoning weapon)?

To your first one: Sure. It's your model, just as long as you make it clear "This converted LotD model is mah Chappy", you'll be fine.

Chaplains are black with chapter specific trim. How far you take "trim" is up to you....

There is, of course, the ever hilarious option of painting it white with a sign saying "I are a Chaplain!"

You could also model him in robes, y'know, like an actual real-life chaplain, and have a candlestick as your bludgeoning weapon. Now there is a model I would like to see....

Do one small thing before chopping up that LotD seargent. Look up Sgt Centurius and make sure it isn't him. You could buy quite a bit of goodies for what he'd bring on ebay

Brother Julian, thanks so much for alerting me. It wasn't Centurious, but I appreciate you giving me the heads up! I don't know what half the crap is that this guy sold me, but I have already found a couple of LoD's, a couple of out of print models, and a Librarian in the mix. Not a bad deal for me.
