So I had the pleasure of painting up Sergeant Harker and Colonel Iron Hand Straken for my Imperial Guard, and I'm ecstatic with the results. These are some of the best sculpts from GW I've ever seen, and after painting them, new favorites of mine. Hope you like them as much as I do!

Hell of a set of horseteeth you got there, Harker.

Let me know what you guys think!

Very nice job! Although the paint does look a bit.. "sprinkly". By that I mean, well y'know the spray can tool you get on Paint? Kinda looks like a result of that.

Nonetheless, very nice!

Yes Darkvoid is right, there is something odd about it.

Either way, good job.

You did a pretty damn good job on those guys. People need to remember that they ARE IG, and are alot smaller then a SM, so the detail can be a pain to paint. I personally am not a huge fan of Harker, just because hes a human that can hold AND fire a heavy bolter? Oh cmon, SM needs to be geneticallly altered to do that

As it turns out, it was a bit humid when I painted these guys, and the primer ended up a little fuzzy out of the can. A similar thing happened last week when I tried to prime my Hellhound, except it looked full on like it was covered in Muppet-esque fuzz, and the paint would scrape off if I ran my finger over it.

Thanks for the comments everybody! It means a lot

You're welcome. Still got to paint some cadians SRM style

Also, you might want to consider stripping and re-doing these models. Sure, from a distance they look fine, but unfortunately that "fuzzyness" kinda spoils it. IMO I just think you should go back and make them look better, especially if they're your favorite models.

Well your models look great at first glance, though the slight fuzzy looks kinda kills the awesome paint job you gave them.

What brand of primer did you use on your mini's that cause the fuzz, cause personaly if that happened to me the primer whould either be thrown away or use somewhere else on a household project.

I have to agree with King Cracker humans should not be capable of holding and firing a heavy bolter, but as far at painting IG I disagree, painting is only as easy as the size of your brush.

I'll strip these guys when you pry them from my cold dead hands. The fuzziness is pretty minimal and isn't that noticeable unless you get in with a macro function on a camera and look stupidly close. That's the dangers of spray priming on a humid June day though, I guess.

For those wondering, I was using Armory. I got one bad can of it, traded it in for another. I've never had any problems with Armory in the two years I've been using it, at least until now.

thank you for minimizing the nipple effect on the minis, thereby counteracting GW's evil plan. in all seriousness, good job. i really love the harker model but i've got a cadian army and i just can't seem to find a place for him (converted or not) in it.

I just highlighted the nipples like I would have any other skin - I decided it wasn't a great idea to go into some 3 stage highlighting to paint nipples. I find it pretty amusing that the artisans who rebuilt Straken's body decided to give his cybernetic half a robot nipple though.
