All kidding aside, I do love the older style Storm Trooper models, and at that price, it isn't TOO horrible to get a full squad!

Yeah, GW up until this month used to sell the old style stormtroopers as a batch. Get one of each 4 special weapons for 12 quid. I prefer the old ones too, much cooler looking.

Its great you can get the stormtroopers plasma/melta guns for £8.50, but the kaskrin plasma/metla guns cost £10.50!!

an extra two quid for models that are just a few years newer but don't look all that cooler. I dunno where GW make up their prices, but I'm glad to get the nicer looking stormtroopers for less cash.

Just a pity that the rules don't justify the model!

I prefer the cadian Storm Troopers myself - But I really love the idea of storm troopers themselves more then they actually seem to be of use...

The problem with the old stormies is just that: they're old. GW sculptors have been getting better over time, which means that they older models look more and more poorly executed the more time passes. This is definitely true of the old stormies with their goofy sized heads and gangley appendages and off-tilt poses. Kasrkin are much better made, which, along with the fact that I use Cadian troops as the base for my army, is why I'd use them.

Plus, apart from the execution, I also don't like the vision of the old stormies. They look LESS armored, rather than much more armored, and their guns look WEAKER than your standard lasgun, rather than stronger. I mean, they probably looked pretty buff back when guardsmen used to look like this, but really, they haven't aged well in conjunction with everything else.

I mean, it's possible for GW to do a vac suit properly, but they'd have to make new minis, which I somehow doubt they'll do, given how much they're hyping the old ones.

My IG army has a pretty decent divide between new, good looking models, and the plastic Catachans. I just got some of these old Stormtroopers in from eBay a little while ago, and they look pretty good with everything else in the army.

To me they only look really nice painted up as inquisition stormtroopers and riding into battle next to the oldschool Grey Knights.

But I'm a sucker for those awesome Kasrkin models. If I played IG I'd field them as Grenadier assault vets.

I think now that there is (hopefully) going to be new GK and SoB, GW will come out with new Stormtroopers, or scrap them all together.
