Not your ordinary records, this blog is to record my progress at conquering my painting table. I have an uncounted number of models to paint, and this summer to get them done. To this end i have started this blog and have set myself several "paintaholic days" (essentially get up, paint till i fall asleep, then post the next morning) as well as garnering support from friends.

I hope you will enjoy what follows, for i surely will.

MODEL 1

Custom built tomb king. army of quatar

I originally concieved this model as the centerpiece to my army. The gods only know how long it took me to gather his parts (the lions alone took six months because no one ever traded them and they were rare on ebay.)

He is king Amon-Zar of Quatar in his royal chariot driven by two of the animated statues of the palace. He was the first king of Quatar. In short, he is awesome incarnate:



I plan to take the weekend to paint this guy (i want extra time because he is a lord choice) so we'll see how it goes.

I will have an update on Model 1's status tonight. until then you are free to comment, ask questions, or generally banter me about upcoming models.

Thank you Indiana1000. At the momen his base (the resin piece on the far left of the above picture) has been painted, but it requires basing material to be finished.

I'll have some pictures soon. Its a little slow going because of all the rain.

Whats the plan after this miniature then? A space marine? An imperial guard? what?

This guy sounds pretty cool. Im really digging the idea of his statues animating.

I am writing a series of articles which will disseminate it into written form (its all in my head atm) that will be showcased in the next several issues of The invocation which is a web-magazine for undead generals made by the members of the carpe noctem forums. The first article is in issue 5 (which is expected july 18th)

Thanks. Unfortunatley something came up sunday, and i had things to do on monday, so progress will continue today. By the evening you should have a pic of the completed chariot, as well as a WIP of the king riding it.

Amidst packing for a week long seminar (which means i'll be away next week /sadface) I have slaved over a hot ping pong ball to bring you my first doom flayer! weapon team of the skaven army! Also , several new recruits arrived the other day. Progress has continued on the king but there are no progress shots at this time unfortunatley.

Couple characters (one of which will be entered in the Carpe noctem painting comp as a wight lord BSB - while actually being an icon bearer. If you like him don't hesitate to register and vote for me when the time comes.) and some skellies, tomb guard, and 3 catapults or so.

@ sageheart = I play skaven, brets, tomb kings, and tau (with high elves via mantic as a painting project and some historicals too)

Well, The week earned me one loss (750 tau vs thousand sons), 2 painted minis (one for a mini exchange) and a whole bunch of stripped clean models.

Unfortunatley, tongiht culminated in a cleaning spree of my work area, and i have a feeling it is going to spill into tommorow too.

Despite my boasts I do have pictures of what I accomplished, however your going to have to wait until i catch some ZZZ's to rejuvenate.

Sorry to hear about your loss. But can't wait to see the models!

Thin your paints. Or maybe the paint your using isn't very good? Anyways, it's always good to keep things in thin layers. You should work on adding some more definition to some of these too, highlights, shades, all that jazz.

I actually do shade. It might be the flash.

I thin my paints as well, what seems wrong about my coverage?

I am also ashamed to admit I don't know how to highlight or blend, despite trying on several miniatures before.

One thing for sure is no one will ever miss your models with that green can't wait to see some more!
