K ive looked over the codex some more and im putting together a 5 man skyclaw unit so farm only one i got with arms is equipped with a storm shield and thunder hammer I believe thats 30 points ontop of the 18 LOL so if anyone could give me some advice on how to make this an effective unit i would appreciate it

Sky claws cannot have a Storm Shield or a thunder hammer.

You really need to look at your codex, it lists what options are available to what units.

They are good for assaults. Period. Fit one with a power weapon if you want. Leave the rest as is. They can't shoot too good, so 15 points is a waste for the plasma pistol.

You do want a pistol, though, because 4 attacks on the charge is miles more preferable than sub-par shooting that prevents the charge (ruling out the plasma gun and bolter). Leave the vehicle killing to another unit.

And don't leave home without 10 of them per unit. Bloodclaws and Skyclaws are all about attacks on the charge, their kit should be geared toward that.
