So a Limited Edition Bonesinger has come into my possetion. A friend purchased it off Ebay from some pro-painter who has some golden deamon history of some sort, i don't know if he's actually won any though, i'll get more info on that later.... but thats what i understand as of now.
It's painted rather well, and I love the way its painted....
the problem is, it doesn't match my Eldar.... at all.
what would you do?
Sell it? Trade it? or just put it on display? start a new army to match? Strip and re-paint (i am loathe to do this since it is painted so well), re-paint entire Eldar army to match?

Meh, I'm not too fond of the paint myself. I mean, it's nice, but not like it's going to win a GD anytime soon. More importantly, the choice of color, as you mention, is so-so, regardless of its execution.

Personally, I'd either leave it as a display piece, or I'd do a partial re-paint. For example, just paint over the blue or over the yellow/red to match your army colors and leave the rest. All you've got to do is chop in a weapon into one of his hands, and you've basically got yourself a cool-posed farseer.

Repaint. You will never sleep happily until you do (unless you just display it). Playing with a model you haven't painted yourself doesn't end well, at least for me. =p

I won't bother.

While I agree with Vargtass, it IS very nicely done. Perhaps you could invent a backstory like "He's the last survivor from Malan'Tai or some other dead craftworld and he joined up with your army.

if i go for the re-paint, the base is resin of some sort. If i strip the paint.... should i worry about the base getting ruined? any suggestions??

Repaint that boy. As for the base, you could just tear him off and strip it seperatly. Not sure what strips resin. Although Simple Green sounds fairly universal.

The base is very likely resin. If it were anything else, you'd be able to tell (trust me on this one, I've based models with dogfood before).

NO! that should definitely NOT be a rule!!!! Thats just gross! I don't want some slaanesh warrior charging me, Screaming a BloodLust filled roar, with his Jolly Roger Flopping around!!!! Simple Green, Castrol Super Clean, Purple Power, all work fairly well stripping resin. I've heard that if you leave it in too long it can get a little soft around the edges but I've never had any problems.

So I'm in the strip it and re-paint it camp.

I'm surprised at how many people are saying "Repaint". Unless you can match the original painter's skill, I'd leave well-enough alone. It doesn't look bad to me at all. I wouldn't put it in GD range, but it's certainly above "tabletop" quality. Somebody knew what they were doing when they painted it.

I'd have to see the rest of your army before making a decision. I know you say it clashes, but you can get away with an IC/MC/Special Character being different because...they are. I mean, exactly how badly does it clash? Also, do YOU like the paint job? If you say you like the way it's painted and mean it, why destroy it?

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

it clashes because of the red and blue..... my army is in fact white and yellow. It looks like superman lol. i like HOW its painted, not the combination of colors so to speak. just due to lack knowing what to do..... it will more than likely be a display piece unless i can get a good trade for it. while i am no slouch when it comes to painting... i do not think i could match his skill (yet).

Trade it, or paint it. I think its a cool mini, and it is painted nice, but I agree the colors are whoa slow down clashing IMO

yeah, this is what i was thinking, someone put a lot of time into it, and i don't think i could strip it. if it was some 8th grade paint job.. for sure, but this is quality work. gonna go for the trade or sell i think.
