Just a quick question about rolling for moving through difficult terrain. If you are, say, 4" away from a piece of difficult terrain, when you go for your roll and only get 3", do you only move the 3" or do you move up to the terrain and stop there?

Also if you declare you are rolling for difficult terrain and roll double 1s, can you instead move your full distance without going through terrain?

Yes, you will only move 3".

No, you will move 1", regardless of whether you go through the terrain or not.

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

You MUST move one inch if you attempt to move through difficult. Also you MUST move the three inches even if the DT is four inches away.

No, you MAY move up to the maxiumum permitted by the Dice. You do not HAVE to move at all. You can even say "I'm gonna try and go in here", roll 2,1 then go "Oh bollocks, ok, I'll go the other way then" and not go into it at all.

Once you declare you are moving into difficult terrain and roll the dice you are bound by your dice roll regardless of whether or not you actually make it into difficult terrain or choose not to head for the difficult terrain.

You don't of course have to move or can move upto the dice roll.

If you decide not to move you count as having moved for firing.

behind you!

Gwar speaks the truth with a bit of Clarification though:

If you roll the dice for Difficult you count as moving even if you decide not to make the attempt. You can opt to not enter the terrain but once you roll the dice your movement is adjusted based on that roll, it becomes the units max move for that movement phase.

edit: darn ninja'd as I typed!

Unless your page 14 is somehow different then the rest of our page 14's, then you might be right.

But page 14 says exactly what he said.

MY page 14 has a picture of a kitty on it.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.
