Yesterday i had a match against salamander marines.There was a situation which me and my friend couldnt find a middle point.
Here is the situation:
My battlewagon(ghazkull + 15 burna) is between a squad of assault terminators and a rhino .It is my turn.
1)I used flame template of burnas to termies and want to do ghazkulls close combat attacks to rhino with boarding plank.
My friend said i cant because of the rule which says you have to assault to unit which you shot at.

And second question of mine is ll i take my +2A for ghazkull when using boarding plank?

He is wrong. The Boarding Plank just lets you make your CC attacks. It isn't bound by the rules of assaulting.

And yes, you get your +2 Attacks.

For the second part, yes. Since you make the attacks as if they were charging.

For the first, without my codex handy I'm not sure of the specifics, but I know the assault what you shoot at doesn't matter because it's not an assault. He is just making close combat attacks and it's not in the assault phase. I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't be able to do what you're describing, unless the boarding plank specifically disallows shooting or somesuch (which I don't think it does).

Gwar! is right again.

On a side note: you do realize that attaching Ghazghkull to the Burnas mean if you ever assault with that unit, the burnas will be making a difficult terrain test for the Mega Armor IC and will strike at I1 since they cannot have stikkbombz... Or you will need to buy a stikkbomb chukka for your BW for them to strike at I.

I see this more and more frequently as a fairly skilled Ork player has suggested this unit configuration but I always see people playing it wrong.

Most people detach Ghazghkull from the unit and assault with him on his own, regardless of whatever unit he may share the BW with.

Also, does it really matter?

First you have a Transport, a 2" deploy, and a 6" Waaagh (if you need it) to get within 1" (where even Difficult Terrain cant stop the assault) and in almost every case, a unit that needs to have 45 Power Weapon Attacks and 7 S10 attacks will either be hitting a LOT before you or be I1 and hit with you anyway.
