In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.

Starter army?

Rumor has it that the newest edition makes Daemons much more middle of the road as far as power goes.

They still will rely on active res to win, so armies that primarly rely on good combat stats are better than armies that rely on static res, and res deniers... Assuming you're playing with people on your same level.

The problem is this: Daemons is easily the most expensive army out there. Most of their minis are metal, and with the new rules, yo ucould spend 200 dollars on 1 unit. at an average of 1 dollar a point!!!

demons are nowhere near as vicious as they were.

in a 2000 point game, the 25% limit on lords makes greater demons pretty underwhelming. the thirster with rerolls and +1 str flaming sword is great, but the cost of making a high level wizard out of the others is prohibitive.

fear is nowhere near as bad as it was.

fleshhounds dont just wipe the front rank anymore, and their initiative is a resounding 'meh', so they dont hit nearly as hard as they used to.

stuff that is still as good as it used to be:

small horror units. you dont feel bad about casting spells with 1 die, and flickering fire can be ridiculously good.

flamers are still redonkulous, even with the new skirmisher rules.

the nurgle/herald brick is still sturdy as hell and 2d6+4 move helps them out a bit.

ive played 2 games with my demons and at 2000 points it radically changed how my armies played. if nothing else, it will force people to play them differently :-)
