If there are no DoW wizards, you cannot have one.
You need permission to use them, not something saying you cant

So the hero section of the dog of war pdf is something I cant take from? Hireling wizards are in that section. and looking at it I can indeed see them. Automatically Appended Next Post: Im not being stubborn, if I cant take them I wont and that will be it. But I want an explination as to why I cant take them.
Not I cant take them because there not there. Check the pdf and read the rules on it. About the only limaitation for wood elves in this text document is I cant take dwarves. And if the unit has any rule stating it counts as something other then rare or in addition to it I have to follow that.

Do Wood Elves even have Dogs of War listed in their book?
That aside, if I recall correctly, the actual DoW army list may have specified that characters (aside from regiments of renown) couldn't be fielded in a non-DoW army. I can't exactly find my copy of WH Chronicles 2004 to confirm right now...
...you found a TO that is allowing Dogs of War? GW has all but denied their existence.

I was always under the impression that you were never allowed to hire any DOW characters, except the Albion ones and those special ones which were in an old WD 270, or something like that I think.
The flow chart makes me belive that because it lists all the other DOW units (even Albion ones) and makes no mention of heroes or lords.

I was the same belief: the only DoW *armies* could take the characters, as there is no mention of being able to include DoW characters even in "DoW Aware" army books
